Last Friday I took my girlfriend here for surprise, book a factory room with a dinner arrangement, breakfast with champagne and a little surprise IN our room.
We were in Zaandam only onces before for a dam tot dam loop. We then saw this hotel and though, we need to come back and have a stay there. The outside look really spectaculair. On our arrival, the in side look somewhat smaller then i imagine, we were greeted by 3 lovely ladies at the frontdesk. Thats worth a star. The front desk can make or runed my stay directly is what I have learn though my many travel and stays around the world. This stay was going to be great. Hahah.
When to our room, to my surprise there was no surprise, maybe that was the surprise..but okee. The room was not as big as I though but its was really nice. A 180 view over the road and the construction side. Thats a bit to bad. But it understandable. The bed feel really good, allthough according to her, there were bedbug. She was ichie on her legs. The bathroom was gourgeous though.
Had our dinner, its was really nice, beter then my last hotel dinner. Very friendly and kind waiters, we have met all 4 of them.
When its time tor bed. We were kockout. We both had a long day. But then 4am, a war was going on outside. Or atlist thats what my gf dreamt about. We both woke up to a loud noise. It was raining all day but that fine. But right now it was so loud, our room was the top of that side of the hotel. The raindrops landed on the roof of the window and make a bom of a noise. We couldnt fall back to sleep. After halve an hour of trying, we decide to call the front desk tot another room. After some keyboard nose on the phone the gentlemen fond us another room, I went down to get the keys for or new room, couldnt help and finally ask about that little surprise from my arrangement. He said it should have been in my room upon my arrival. He then went to the back and got me 4 small bottle of cucumber gin and said to leave a note on the computer about it. I thank him, telling him that if its allso loud in the new room, maybe the gin will help us to sleep. Thank god there was no need for the gin( it taste awfull) the smaller room had a beter view and it was a lot less noisy. Finally we went back to sleep.
Breakfast time...lady at the small restaurant desk. Asking us friendly, what our roomnr was. When in, stood there to take a look at what they had, another gentlemen come and ask us again what our roomnr was. I dont mind being ask twice, but I dont like the way he look at me from top to botom as if we sneak in there for a free meal. There went the fifh star. Breakfast was nice, enough to choose from.
And then before check out. We went to the swimming pool, its was pretty dame cold. Swom one lap and got out of it. After that we went to the sauna and the steamroom. The sauna was the nicest of the three.
Pack everything up, went to check out. Got my little bag of surprise. But then, before getting out, I realise I miss my cap, went back ask the front desk, we left it in the first room. She made a call, but it seem it was not fond by the cleaner. Went to dubbel check Im a 100 sure I left it in the closet on the upper plank, thats way my gf didnt saw it went packing our stuff and 4.30am. She is a small lady. I think they just throw it away, its a hotel. Most people check out and never come back again, not for a cap anyway. I did. Too bad.
But all and all. If the girlfriend is happy, im happy. A nice get away. I think I might try to stay at every Inntel hotel there is. The first one was in Rotterdam. This is my second Inntel hotel. And I...
Read moreInntel Hotel Amsterdam Zaandam is the most conspicuous building in Zaandam. Everybody in Zaandam knows where it is and there is controversy about the looks of this building. Many people asked me what I thought of the building, which made me curious to find out what it is like to be inside, so we booked a Craft Deluxe room with a king-size bed for 2 nights at 108 Euro per night. But my experience there was of total disappointment and frustration.
I booked a room with a king-size bed and a kitchenette. I got a fold-away, highly uncomfortable double-size bed with no kitchenette.
Hair drier not functioning but they didn’t bring a replacement.
Air-conditioning blowing cold air out in the middle of the winter when it’s set at 26C.
When I asked to move to another room, the receptionist had the audacity to ask for 10 more Euro for an upgrade.
2nd room offered was dusty and had a roller-blind down lying on the floor.
3rd room offered had a stinking refrigerator because it wasn’t cleaned properly.
Young receptionists are so off-hand about everything, anything. They can’t provide correct information, nor can’t they say ‘sorry’ or ‘please’.
When I asked for some compensation for the discomfort and wasted time waiting, they hung up!
The only reason I am giving them a 2-star rating, not 1-star, is that the manager contacted me next day, apologized and refunded us for the first night. However, a refund does not bring back the weekend we were planning to enjoy. It was our last weekend in Europe and we just wanted to have a relaxing time between ourselves. Instead I ended up having an unnecessary, unpleasant argument with those young receptionists who have no idea what “service” means.
The hotel-orientated attitude as opposed to guest-orientated is shown in the design of the hotel itself, already. Whoever designed the hotel must have prioritized fancifulness before comfort and/or enjoyment of the guests and the interior suffers from the eccentric exterior design. For example, the third room we were offered had two very narrow windows very close to the side walls. They were so close to the wall without curtain ties that the curtains covered half of the windows. It was on the tenth floor. Nobody could look into the room. Why didn’t they put a large window in the middle of the wall so that guests can enjoy the great view? Instead, when we were sitting on the bed, we were facing a blank wall between those half-covered windows. Another idiotic design is the glass panel between the bedroom and the bathroom. The toilet was clearly visible from the room. What is that for? Would anybody like to be watched when they are on the toilet?
I personally think it's better off to take a photo outside and avoid strong inside but if you are still booking this hotel, make sure you check everything in the room before you start unpacking your bags and ask to talk to a duty manager rather than dealing with...
Read moreNot happy. Bugs inside my "deluxe room" payed allmost 1000 euros for 6 days, tv not working, air condition is noisy and loud all the time, the lights in the room hallway is turning on and off randomly, Staff isnt very nice with us Norwegians that speak bad english, ordered Coffee in the bar since there was none left in my room, worst Coffee ever made by humans. (And 2 cups provided with the room...and not even real cups, get these card board cups, 2 Everytime room gets cleaned. Hard to get any food at the hotel too. Not happy at all, i will make sure none of my friends or family will go here. And i read in the agreements that i should pay 50 eur for the room insurance thing. But no i got scammed here, 150 euros i paid!!!! DO NOT USE THIS OLD HOTEL FROM 2010. Its the worst. I will never come back!! And we are even stuck in this hotel for several days more!!! WiFi also is bad here, cant download, watch, or stream for the most part, And the descriptions says they clean with desifectants, yeah sure, why are there bugs inside? Ive been to several hotels in amsterdam, krasnapolsky, radisson blu, and van der valk amstel, this is the only time Ive been unhappy and tired after staying at a hotel. And the pillows are rock hard like solid concrete, my neck hurts. And my mind is only spinning and thinking (why did we go here!?) atleast never again. This Old outdated hotel deserve 2.5-3 stars not 4. Never been so unhappy and felt so unwelcomed at a hotel before. Atleast when you go outside the outside of the hotel, streets and Town is beautiful. But inntel zaandam is not Worth it! Choose another hotel. And one more update, WE ALSO GOT ROBBED HERE!, by the Staff, one headset Worth 150 eur is missing, and one neck pillow. Im mad about this place! I dont know what to think, this is the only hotel that we have lost items in in the netherlands. And when searcing for it i found really dirty places in my room, under the bed have Never been cleaned. Wardrobe shelfs never cleaned and bathtub got hair in...
