The absolute perfect motel for anyone who wanna layover in Whangarei. It’s well located and near a gas station where you can get a late night snack. The rooms are spacious, clean and well maintained. The front desk lady is helpful and easy to communicate. The room we stayed was room no.7 which had a large king bed and single bed in the sitting area. There was a comfy couch and TV access, the WiFi is OK, not super fast bus enough for you social media scrolling. Price was 160NZD per night. Will definitely come again if in the area and need a place to sleep.

The owners, Heather & Gordon, are very friendly people. They have made their motel with a nice friendly/quiet atmosphere for relaxing. Loved the service provided and loved reading the wall arts on the walls. Which is written in Scottish, followed by Maori, then English. If ever you're stopping into Whangarei for a business trip or for a holiday, check this Motel out. Trust me, it's worth it. Within walking distance shops and pub from here.

Very clean and comfortable and beds, has basic kitchen stuff, Sky TV, near to restaurants, friendly owners. Worth the prize of a two bedroom unit, would definitely stay again. Downside is slow wifi and No lights in the dining table area. Need to install a ceiling or wall light to brighten the dining area, a bit dark to eat during dinner..

I came up from Auckland to do a Tribute Show my venue had booked my room.. It was taking time to set up and organise things so I thought I had better call it was 5.pm I talk to Glenice and she was pleasent and said no worries if your not here by 8.pm I lll leave the key under the mat..

After I finished the show I arrived looked under the mat there was no key. Out of kindness I thought I won’t wake anyone .. There was a window open so I climbed through it ( feeling like a crim ) but nowhere to sleep .. eventually got in . No milk in the fridge. Off to the garage .. in the morning.. Shower .. No towels . Shower was weak pathetic.. Hate to complain.. But hugely disappointed.. And Sorry no five star.. It’s a 1...

I travel frequently for work regulary and i do often stay in motels both in nz and australia.

This motel is by far the most cleanest motel i have ever had the privlage of staying in.

As a bonus its not only super clean but the nice couple who manage this place have the most outstanding people skills Which after a long drive and 2 flights is a sight for sore eyes.

So so clean Thankyou kensington motel you are a standard that needs to be educated to other motels.

And just a quick add on.....i think i counted 35 steps to the best fish and chip shop in northland...

We have stayed here twice now and love the location. Walking distance to supermarkets, eateries in Kensington and town. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We have stayed in many hotels but I love this place as its quiet even though it's on the main road. It has comfy beds, very clean and the kitchenette in our large one bedroom unit had everything we need. One thing to note parking is limited to one space per room, but there was plenty out on the road. The second night there was vacant rooms so we were able to park our other car on site. Look forward to seeing the staff again at...
