Khane Bahar Indian — Restaurant in Northland

We visited Khane Bahar for dinner earlier in the year and the food was OK. We made a point of stopping in while passing through Whangerei to eat there again and wished we had not. We ordered an aloo gobi and chicken curry of some sort. Both meals came out a bright red colour and tasted of tomato puree and chilli, and were very sweet. There was no depth or spice taste. In fact, they were not curries. Just another disappointing Indian restaurant, like most in NZ, pulling the wool over their customer's eyes. Won't eat out at Indian restaurants in NZ again. If I wanted butter rice I'd have said .. Literally probably half a chicken breast if that cut up in my "butter chicken" takeaway meal.

Not good enough.

It tastes good, and the naan bread is lovely and fresh .

However only have about 7 peices of small chicken was an insult .

I only live down the road and have eaten this place a few times and it's time I said smthing about the lack of meat .

I am happy to delite this review if I see it has improved one more time .

Delivery driver was cool...

Delicious, absolutely delicious! I had very generous helpings of kafal chicken, methi paratha and a mango lassi, which I had requested 'not too sweet and runny' please, which the chef was happy to adjust for me. The meal was served with side condiments of their very yummy home made yoghurt and some lime pickle. I was the only person dining in around 5.30pm, but it certainly seemed very popular for takeaways.
