Like most KFC restaurants in NZ you seldom get an exceptional experience and this store was no different. We tried to dine in but as KFC have decided they don't want to encourage customers eat in their restaurant as they would have to pay people to clean. They also now do not provide plates, cups or any condiments to provide customers a pleasant dinning experience. They appeared to be short staffed but it is hard to discern if this was bad luck or bad management. There was only one person on the front counter and as usual it was a trainee (gotta start somewhere I guess) but the other serving staff provided her no help when she had an issue and it took 2-3 min to get the manager who was busy making the Burgers. And if you have an issue with your order don't bother trying to get their attention to remedy the issues as most staff actively avoided eye contact so another long wait at the counter to get the complete or correct order will usually be the case. Overall food was as it usually tastes. And the service was dismal. However I understand most of the issues are as a result of the corporate nature of business. Read moreon friday night 15/3/24 we stopped in at kfc to get food as the mcdonald’s had closed due to technical difficulties. we waited over 20 minutes before our order was taken. this was the least of our issues during this visit. the manager on shift did NOT take initiative to call her management to be open longer to compensate for the abundance of customers (even if they just stayed open on drive thru). She was extremely rude to customers AND staff, throwing a tantrum about wanting to go home. Read moreMy experience at KFC Oamaru would have to be the worst experience at ANY fast food restaurant in New Zealand. We pulled into the drive-thru hoping for a decent feed but we were sadly let down.
We were asked to make our order, and so we did. We got to the 2nd item, and were informed there was only one bun left. So we couldn't order two burger meals. So we ordered one. Oh sorry, we can't do that one. We only have Zinger patties. Okay so an ultimate burger meal? We have no potato for the potato and gravy.
Tell you what, if it weren't for my partner being in the car, I have chucked my drink through the window. Feel even worse for the 3 cars behind me, no signs out or anything.
Edit and update: called in on our way through town as we were short on options. Rude customer service at the drive through, and our order wasn't correct. Didn't have time to sort it out as we were on a tight schedule. Obviously nothing has changed...
