This Boutique hotel, located in the high-end residential neighborhoods of Lekki that is away from the crowds, but convenient to city highlights combines upscale with minimalist elegance. Tucked away in the serene Lekki neighborhood it is a cool hideaway from the hustle and bustle of the city life. The hotel boasts of a well equipped gym and a conference room(But I did not check it out for audio-visual aids - will do so next time). The room I stayed in was pretty basic but neat and comfy. I thought that the paint art work gave the room more character. One of the air conditioners was dripping but the maintenance guy fixed it. I liked the fact that he was dressed in his coverall. One of my pet peeves is a scruffy work man. They have Wi-Fi and several wall outlets so that a person can charge all the devices which is essential for life today (Millennials will thank me for this- and they are very welcome!) For me important items in a room should also include Plush pillows and breathable bed linens, a small fridge (that works!), microwave — and tea. Most hotels don't do Microwave but that would have been such a rare treat. Sigh! Anyway they were glad to microwave my ram "suya" so I was good. I also liked that the bathroom was well lit but couldn't be bothered about the no hand dryer (Apologies to my Caucasian friends!) If a room is squeaky clean, has good mirrors and lighting I will take it. Food service was fair and I had one of the best garden salad I have had in a long while. Simply fresh and delicious! I hope it stays that way. I just wished they threw in some Complimentary refreshments for good measure. The hotel website is pretty good compared to most in Nigeria. Booking is a breeze with prices shown in various currencies. Personalisation is a growing trend which many hotels should explore but hardly do. It is useful when Bookers are shown what upgrades they can pay for during the booking process.Social login is an option that could speed up the process of logging-in and provide the hotel with powerful social data. Overall my experience was good. I would...
Read moreAppearances are deceptive. Looks chic but turns out to be terrible. Staff are unwilling to help and so slow to understand what you need or pretending to be so. First night the room had dirty bed sheets, duvet, and towels. Moved to a better one, but it does not come with what usually is provided by decent hotels; no shampoo nor shower gel and just one towel. While moving between rooms I forgot my mobile phone's rubber case and talked to the reception about it at least 3 times and no feedback so far, which tells a lot about their integrity. Have been asking for a different desk chair with lumbar support which I saw in other rooms, but being as inconsiderate as they are, they have been ignoring my request. My company pays for the room and a breakfast, but every time I call the restaurant to order some coffee they ask how I would like to pay, miscommunication in its worst forms. Mediocre internet speed and tap water smells like it came out of the sewage system. I consider myself lucky that I have stayed in different hotels in Nigeria before this one or else I would have had the impression that Nigerians are unprofessional, dishonest, and cheap, which is not true. Maple cottage, you're giving your...
Read moreTo describe Maple Cottage as a guesthouse would be an understatement to say the least……….. but that’s what it’s called !||From day one I was greeted with smiles from the fabulous staff and was treated with first-rate service. I often forgot I was not in a five star hotel. But with the décor and service who would blame me!||The owner Chris with his trademark laugh and hospitality would often be seen mingling with guests and making them feel completely at home.||The lounge/bar for me was fabulous on so many different levels during the day it served as a meeting and networking hub, Aptly named the “Buda lounge” and at night it transformed into a stylish chilled out unique atmosphere.||Apart from the wonderful room service, it also housed a lovely restaurant were I felt comfortable having meetings too. You get the feel of unrestrained glamour and minimalist chic, with Chefs capable of producing immensely satisfying first class Western and African dishes.||On the whole, this was one of the best places I have been too. I strongly...
