My husband and I have been lucky enough to stay in Radisson hotels around the world, so we know the brand and like the standard they offer. However, this is the first Radisson I would not return to.||We were looking forward to our weekend visit to this hotel and had anticipated it becoming a regular destination for us as our son has just moved into the neighbourhood. ||The location of the hotel is great. It is in a lovely area, and is conveniently near a stop for the Flybussen airport bus and other public transport. The staff are friendly, the breakfasts are freshly prepared and to a good standard, the roof bar is stunning - but the bed and bedroom were a huge let down for us.||The rooms are very modern. So modern, there is nowhere to put your clothes, other than on the 8 hangers provided. There are no light switches but there is a small 'master pad' on the wall which offers lighting and cooling options once you have navigated through the choices. There are pads on the walls beside the beds which are not obvious if you need to turn a light on through the night.||We liked the heated floor in the bathroom. We liked how quiet the room was. The bedding was good quality: the sheets, pillows, and downies were all comfortable.||The mattress, however, was awful. Very, very soft and made from a foam or latex which offered no support and, bizarrely, made turning over in your sleep really difficult. I am almost 60 and have arthritis which is kept at bay with good management, although I have had some back pain recently. The bed was so unsupportive I was kept awake because it was so soft, I was in pain. When I did sleep, I was woken when I tried to roll over as I just sunk further into the bed. The mattress had no springs. It was like someone managed to encapsulate blancmange and sold it to an unsuspecting hotel chain as a modern way to sleep. It might be good for tiny people, or for young people, but my husband and I are neither tiny nor young and we both struggled to get sleep of any quality in this bed.||After our first night of poor, painful sleep, we asked reception if there was any way to make the bed firmer. The receptionist said we were the second people to comment on the uncomfortable beds that morning and he would see what housekeeping could do. We also asked for the strongbox to be fixed as it had been left locked open and so we could not use it.||That night, when we returned to our room, we were disappointed to find the strongbox still was locked open and the bed was just as soft and uncomfortable. In the end, I slid onto the floor beside the bed during the night, where I finally got some sleep. ||The next morning, we asked reception if we could have the bed settee in our room made up for me, as I had been in some pain during two nights now. I was beginning to seize up and was finding it increasingly painful to walk. The receptionist seemed shocked as he assured us he had sent instructions to housekeeping for changes to be made the day before.||That night, we returned to the room for our last night before checking out to find the strongbox had been fixed (we no longer needed it but yay for the next occupants), and that housekeeping had not made up the bed settee as requested but had instead added another, thin mattress to the bed. I climbed on top and sank even further into the marshmallowy mattresses. In despair, I put the thin mattress on the floor and slept there, thinking it was at least an upgrade to sleeping on the bare floor, as I had the night before.||It really is a shame. Read moreI arrived on 23 December and stayed for 3 nights. Cannot recommend enough this beautiful hotel with great location, friendly and professional staff delivering perfect service, outstanding rooms and amazing facilities.
Having understood that the hotel is fairly new everything was up to date with latest technologies, for example you can connect via bluetooth to the main panel in the room that controls the AC fan, temperature, lights and even the external window blinds! So handy to lie on the bed and control everything via the phone.
The TV was huge, it had Chromecast integrated so I could stream my favourite apps on the TV.
The bathroom was very well done, two mirrors for far and close lookup, both with LED lighting, the shower was great with two different shower heads, mixer to control the temperature, toilet with slowly closing seat and lid, everything was spotless. The room had minifridge with adjustable temp, iron, hairdryer, coffee machine with capsules, kettle and tea. Small table and chair for work and another ones for leasure. Great artwork with paintings, very cute old school telephone in red colour matching the leasure chair and the overall red coloured style of the hotel.
The bed, pillows, duvet, matress and matress top were incredible. I never had a better sleep in my life, all of them so comfy and soft!
I couldn't visit the restaurant on the 12th floor (it wasn't working during Christmas which is understandable) and apparently had a great view over Oslo, so definitely worth going next time.
The one and only small critique I have is that upon arriving I couldn't see where the entrance of the hotel is and I took the steps on the side of the entrance that had a lot of ice which was not treated so it was a bit dangerous to walk.
Other than that I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely...
