I had a terrible experience at this hotel. I have been travelling for nine months, and I often use Google Maps to find accommodation in the area where I want to stay. As you can see from the screen recording and photo, the rate for this hotel seemed very cheap, but it displayed the same rate on their website, so I booked it. I also received a confirmation email confirming the rate.
When I arrived, there was nobody at reception. I called the number from Google, and a man answered. When I tried to say I was at reception, he just responded, “no inglés” and hung up on me. I called back, but there was no answer. So, I tried calling from my other SIM card with a different number, and he answered. I repeated, this time in Spanish (which was very similar to English), that I was at reception. He then came from the back of the hotel, and it was clear he was a tradesman. He called someone and gestured to me that someone would come soon. About 20 minutes later, the actual receptionist, Cristian showed up and looked at me as if to say, “What are you doing here?”
I showed him my reservation from the email. He looked at me, shook his head, and said, “No, there is no reservation.” I said, “What do you mean, no?” He mentioned some issue with their website, claiming it didn’t work properly. I showed him the confirmation email from their site and insisted that I had a booking. He proceeded to explain the rates for the night I wanted to stay, which had increased over the last few days because the high season was approaching, and it was way outside my budget. He refused to adjust the price or apologise for the misinformation displayed on their website.
As you can see from the screen recording, there was no other way to book; there were no links to Booking.com, Agoda, Expedia, or any other platforms. Even when I checked those platforms, this particular accommodation did not appear. Exhausted, I decided to stay one night because I had been traveling since 5 a.m. that morning and had already been attempted to be ripped off at the Panama border by officials.
When I got to my room, all I wanted to do was take a shower and freshen up before meeting my friend for dinner. I undressed and went to turn on the shower, only to find that there was no water. I had to get dressed again in my sweaty clothes and head back downstairs to reception, where, again, there was nobody. I had to get the attention of the tradesman in the back, who then called Cristian again. Cristian showed up about 15 to 20 minutes later and, without apologising, said that, yes, the water was out because they were fixing some pipes and were waiting for a truck to arrive with water (?)
Finally, about 40 minutes later, I was notified that there was water, and I could take the much-needed shower. Taking my shoes off in the room, I noticed the floors were filthy. They blamed it on the roadworks outside, but the level of dust did not match a room that had been cleaned that day, making me skeptical about their hygiene practices.
Suffice it to say, I would not recommend this place. There are plenty of other accommodation options on the island, including affordable ones with friendly, genuine customer service. Steer clear of this hotel unless you don’t care about being...
Read moreThis hotel was between the three choices we could make on our tour, and we chose this one because it is on the main street. For me there are just two things that are a must, the AC works fine and a clean bathroom and this hotel meets those requirements very well. My room did not face the main street and I found it very cozy and could sleep soundly at night, so if you have a light sleep and do not want to be bothered with noises from the main street just ask for a room away from the main street. Everyone was super friendly and I would choose this hotel again. Oh I forgot, they have the...
