The pictures of this hotel are a serious catfish & at least 10 years old. if you need the wifi to work do no book here! currently sitting in the hallway to write this review as the wifi does not work in the rooms. i asked to be changed rooms 3 times and tried 3 different floors. The only place the wifi works is in the reception, by the pool on the 16th floor (sometimes) or if you sit on the floor near the lifts. i booked 3 nights for some rest after traveling central america for the last 2 months, before returning to the UK. I work online and have to make lengthy & private video calls to the UK . i had to go to the reception at 7am every morning and set up my hot desk there. I booked what looked like a lovely suite with a desk that i could work from in private but was impossible. Whilst i am sitting in the corridor outside my room to connect to sketchy wifi, there are cockroaches the size of cats running between the rooms & under the doors. The plus side is the staff are amazing and did their best to help & the IT support came out to try and put some old booster box in my room and i appreciate their help but they are fighting a losing battle with the mangement. There is absolutely zero facilities, not even a kettle in the room to make a coffee in the morning, let alone cups or a plate, the Restaurant/Kitchen is permanently closed since covid, there is one small microwave in the reception bar and that was the only way to get hot water for a drink in the morning. I was told that it wasnt available for guests to use, the receptionist heated some food & hot water regardless but management called her immediately to reprimand her. I stated i wanted a refund and I didnt want to stay here but management didnt seem like they would refund me. The rooms are rundown and need proper cleaners, although the bed was comfy & the sheets clean & there was a TV. The room was not cleaned/turned down once during my stay, and the rusty bathroom is a slip hazard. The 16th floor had spectacular views with a roof top pool, but again the pool area was never cleaned, the water was murky and suspect & the bar permanently closed. I can imagine once upon a time this was a decent hotel, but now it just needs knocking down. management just want to take your money and don't care about the guests. shame as the...
Read morePros: BEAUTIFUL pool area on roof - 16th floor - overlooking city of Panama! New, safe hotel with rooms of a decent size, modern bathrooms and showers and large closets with safes and large flatscreen TV. Housekeepers are very sweet, nice and funny and will bend over backward for you. Hotel is a few blocks away from La Cinta Costera, a short drive away to El Casco Antiguo (Old Town) and to the newer part of downtown Panama. Metro stations La Loteria and Santo Tomas are blocks away. Restaurants nearby - Free parking - Very good value for $
Cons or room for improvement: Lots of hookers prowling area at night, but they don't really bother anyone and the area is not unsafe; Pool bar open only from Thursday to Sunday. Parking is free, but lot is under construction and VERY NARROW curve when driving up to first floor. I can see accidents happening in the lot in the near future. Beer and liquor bottles left (probably by guests) next to some spaces for days. Housekeepers use a broom to sweep carpet - no vacuum cleaner - eeew - carpeting in hallway and rooms is new but thin and of poor quality. No refrigerators in room, but staff says they are getting them. No emergency toiletries (toothbrushes) available at hotel.
Breakfasts is very basic and limited, but decent. Change up type of eggs cooked (not just scrambled). Included in room rate so a good value.
Suggestion: For fun, add a ping pong table or foosball table somewhere, in lobby or upstairs near pool.
Guests have to sign in any friend (who has to provide identification) for security reasons even when guest's friend is not staying overnight. This is standard in Panama, where in the U.S. it would be considered an...
Read moreWe stayed 5 nights here & the best thing about it was the rooftop pool & the view. The rooms were clean but lacked a few amenities that we like. just to let you know:no minifridege, no coffee maker. you buy a cup downstairs for $2. . No ice bucket or ice makers anywhere in the hotel. The room had an ironing board but no iron. We had to get this & hangers from the front desk. There aren't any glasses in the room even for water. The location is good. One block from Balboa Ave & a beautiful bike & running path right along the bay. They mention a shuttle but it only runs a few times per day, not on an hourly or even 1/2 hour schedule. Our flight was at 9:55 am. there was a shuttle available at 5 am or 8am. Tocumen airport is 45 min away..Thankfully we got a very nice cab driver because 4 of them said no. They didn't want to take us. The fitness center is equipped well enough. we can adapt pretty easily but no AC. Lastly, the customer service. One of the front desk clerks was friendly & helpful & the maids were great but others acted like we were imposing. Even the manager did not acknowledge us or say hello when we encountered him.. We tip accordingly & generously but it wasn't appreciated. Entering & leaving The hotel no one said anything to us. Guess we...
