This was about to be a good review, but in my last hour in the hotel, I had a terrible surprise of having a couple enter my room. The checkout is until 12pm, I arrived at the hotel at 11am to pack my bags, talked at the front desk about the checkout procedure, and the person there confirmed my room number, my name, and explained to me that I had only to let them know about my departure. I entered my room and started to pack my bags when a couple opened my door. Now, all the doors have a passcode that is sent to our phones. They were just as surprised as I was; they closed the door and left. I was in there in shock, and hurried up to leave as soon as possible, feeling extremely insecure. I called my uber, and literally felt my heart pounding to get out of there. I went to the front desk to let the person know about this and asked him, How does someone else have the passcode to my room??? Isn’t the password changed between guests? Is the same code used in different rooms? Was my room already available because of a mistake in the system? Either way, this is utterly unacceptable. Everything else that I had to say about the place vanished. My one and only review is that this is not a safe place, especially for people...
Read moreWhat a lovely one night stay at Hotel Bardot Boutique! I arrived at 8pm. I had received an email with self check in instructions, but there was staff there to welcome me and answer any questions I had. My ability to speak Spanish is ‘ok’ at best and everyone I met spoke English very well! My room was clean and comfortable. The curtains were thick so I was able to sleep in after a long day of travel. In the morning I went down to the restaurant and had a simple and delicious meal at a good price. I would definitely recommend this spot for anyone wanting to stay in that area of the city. I do want to mention that when I booked on Priceline they listed this hotel as having an airport shuttle. This isn’t quite accurate…they were happy to organize a ride for me to get to the hotel and I think that is what Priceline meant. I ended up taking an uber which was very easy and a little bit cheaper then it would have been if I used a different service. Prior to my arrival I communicated with the hotel via email and they were very responsive. I would stay there again and wish I had been able to stay...
Read moreBooked on booking.com and arrived to a glass of complimentary champagne at the bar which was a nice treat and surprise.
Room was keypad entry and despite me, my partner and the receptionist all trying, it wouldn't open. Eventually it did. Annoying but fine.
The room was well equipped and well-kept although coffee was only decaf. It was as it appeared on Booking.com.
The room had zero view as windows opened onto a small, internal courtyard, but we knew this when booking so no problem. It also meant it was very quiet - no street noise which is rare in Casco Viejo and felt great! The location is excellent.
The rooftop is disappointing - very small, compact and abandoned. I had to fumble around in the dark at 7 pm to plug in the lights myself - in a "5*" establishment like this you would not expect to plug in lights yourself in a communal area to be able to see.
The chintzy decor is not to my style. They tried to create something sumptuous and iconic but missed and created tackiness. But that's just opinion. Worthy of 4* but cannot say this was a...
