If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Please know that this is an honest review, not written from from crazed, awful person. I have traveled the world and I'm not a diva. I believe the reviews for this place false. Our experience was awful. It started with the people sitting next to us who we started chatting with, they said their meal was pretty bad, even dessert. And when our food came, it was awful as well. And I mean inedible--both dishes. But it was Christmas Eve and we weren't going to send it back, we just didn't eat it. My friend had the bolognese which was utterly tasteless, I had the shrimp and pasta in a cream sauce which should have had Zuccini in it but that was missing. Our meals were left uneaten. We hoped that the tiramisu would help us feel better because the waiter suggested it. By the way, he asked how things were when he took our plates of uneaten food and I mentioned the missing zuccini. To our dismay, the tiramisu was awful and tasteless as well. How does one make tasteless tiramisu!??? When the waiter asked if we liked it, we couldn't lie. Five minutes later, the chef was at our table yelling at us!! Telling us how hard she worked on the teramisu!! Halfway into her rant, I mention the missing zucccini in my pastaand she acknowledges that she forgot to put it, but to apology. She just kept arguing and how busy it was and how incensed that she was that we didn't like her food!!! I honestly have never been treated so disrespectfully by a chef!! Oh and yes, another table next to us got their food and the whole time they were eating, they were complaining, yet they said nothing when the chef was there yelling at us. People are such cowards. None the less, I don't actually care about how the food was for other people, but if things are this awful for me, then I should be treated with an apology at least. I'm...
Read moreNestled in the heart of Casco Viejo, this Italian gem offers a culinary journey that transcends continents and creates lasting memories. From the moment you arrive, you are enveloped in a warm embrace of hospitality. The staff were absolutely incredible, ensuring every detail was seen to with care. Not once did we refill a glass or need to ask for anything—their presence was subtle yet attentive, a perfect harmony of service.
The owners, a delightful husband and wife duo, were deeply involved in every aspect of the experience. Throughout the meal, they checked in, asking how they could enhance our time, making us feel not like guests at a restaurant but visitors in their home. Their passion radiated in every interaction, adding a personal touch that elevated the entire evening.
The meal itself was nothing short of extraordinary. The opening act of prosciutto, mozzarella, pink peppercorn, arugula, and tomato was a revelation. A dish so divine, its equal could only be found in Italy or perhaps the culinary peaks of Switzerland. Each bite was a harmonious blend of textures and flavors, lifting the palate to new heights.
The penne with tomato sauce and mozzarella transported me to a dreamscape of indulgence. Every forkful was a journey of bliss, a moment where time itself paused, only to be broken by the bittersweet clink of an empty plate. My wife chose their homemade gnocchi, a dish so tender and flavorful it could rival the grandest of Michelin three-star establishments. The seamless dance of flavors across the palate put even the most elegant ballroom waltz to shame.

Read moreRosaNegra is my absolute FAVORITE restaurant so far in Panama’! It is certainly the most charming, romantic, elegant, and cozy of any restaurant in the city!
The food is delicious…no matter what you order and the portions are so generous that you will most likely need to take some home for your lunch the next day! My only criticism is that I wish they could offer more vegetarian and Vegan dishes. Otherwise, the food is SUPERB!
The chef, the owner, the entire staff are welcoming, friendly, and always on top of things. They pay great attention to detail (a very Italian trait) and the wine list is good and not excessively expensive. We ordered a lovely Chardonnay for $33 which is comparable to, if not a bit less than what other restaurants of the same, high calibre charge.
I have now dined in 3 of the highly rated and much celebrated restaurants in Casco Viejo and RosaNegra is by far my favorite. The open, full-length windows, framed by billowing cream-colored draperies, the elegant wine cabinet that covers the floor to ceiling back wall, the beautifully appointed bar, the zany and colorful chef’s hat and apron worn by the head chef (a charming Italian lady), and the relaxed elegance of the ambiance, even allowing diners to bring their doggies in with them, all add up to a fun, relaxing, dining experience for an intimate dinner or for a group of friends and family to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or any occasion.
RosaNegra is divine! A final note: It is very popular, especially on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, so be sure to make reservations ahead of time and take a taxi or an Uber…no need to spoil a fabulous dinner with parking problems. I can’t wait to dine at...
