Within a walking distance of attractions in Casco Viejo but in a very sketchy neighbourhood. Instead of city/ocean view, there was a view of an empty lot that’s used for dumping garbage and some abandoned buildings.||||You cannot open the hotel front door with your key so the receptionist needs to buzz you in everytime you come in. We were told that there is always someone at the reception to make sure to open. This is not what happened with us and I was left kicking the door for a good while until a cleaner showed up to open.||||When we came in, our bed had dirty sheets, there was snot wiped on a wall, the toilets were dirty, dust and hairs in all corners, cups and glasses were visibly dirty. We asked kindly to clean up, the cleaner went and cleaned exactly and only the parts we mentioned, nothing else which we unfortunately didn’t realize until later. We also found urine on the toilet rims, dirty coffee mugs and glasses. Zero interest in cleanliness.||||The lady at the reception was very nice and kind at first but that ended quickly when we voiced our concerns that this is pandemia and you are a hotel - cleanliness is an absolute must and it’s ridiculous how they seem to not take this with any seriousness. She offered to change us to a different room for the rest of our stay. We asked to have our money back and leave.||||We had to talk to her boss to get our money back since this lady did not want to give it. I took a piece of paper off her desk with my passport info and she threated to call the police because I assaulted her. Next she proceeds to bombard us with whatsapp messages that we need to sign some documents and that we stole they key of the room (we left it in the room). Absolute garbage staff.||||So if you are looking to stay in a decayed and shady part of Casco Viejo, not knowing if you can get in your room when you want and enjoy staying in a dirty room hosted by people with zero service skills, then you've found your place at...
Read moreI'm not a very picky person. My general attitude concerning accommodations when I travel is I need a central location, nearby public transportation, a clean and safe environment and WiFi. The location of Hotel Casco Antiguo is nice because it's in Casco Viejo. However, the immediate neighborhood is quite rough. My first night, I heard approximately 3 dozen rounds of gun fire after dark and the next morning, I saw a man across the street bathing on his balcony and then dumping the bath water (from a 5-gallon pail) to the street below. I stayed just two nights and then moved to another hotel. There was no toilet paper provided for my stay. Luckily, the Rey supermarket is just around the corner and I was able to purchase some. The WiFi at the hotel was awful, at best. The staff were using the WiFi to stream movies, etc., leaving no bandwidth whatsoever for anyone else to establish/maintain a connection. Breakfast was provided. It consisted of two eggs and two slices of dry toast with coffee and juice. The staff was nice, with the exception of one particularly miserable young woman. Also, this hotel accepts CASH ONLY for payment - you can not pay with a credit...
Read moreArrived at the door of this hotel December 17.. 2018. ALL DARK, NOT OPEN! We were already informed that evening by tourist police that had had a problem with a couple seeking the same venue the previous week. Place closed. We found a place to stay||that evening. Our hotel managed to make contact with the "Selena" (incorrect phone # on booking confirmation) Police were summoned to our hotel and complaint was taken. Names of hotel manager and person representing this joint were taken for later action. Police actually reached a representative of this unsavory place that evening. She said she didn't have a room that night. She offered me less than half of what we had paid for the booking!!! The next local hotel we stayed at was also familiar with this place ... Very bad experience for us ..reflects very poorly on Panama. Such a wonderful,...
