The Strangers Club — Restaurant in San Felipe

We unknowingly arrived for Italian Night. Fully booked, so we sat at the bar and had great bar service from friendly, young staff. Cocktails use fancy ingredients and the food feels like someone took the time to make it well. They get customer service right here. Their standards are American/Western countries, not Panamanian. So when it took over an hour for our meals to arrive(which didn't bother us much bc we are used to slow service in Panama), the bartender apologised and gave all of our drinks for free, and then gave us two more free cocktails. A group of New York bartenders took a trip to Panama City, befriended a local rum producer, and Strangers Club was born. The name is borrowed from a famous bar of the same name in Panama City’s past, and it doesn’t disappoint. My fiancé and I are from Chicago and went to Panama City for a long weekend awhile back (sorry for the late review). We went to Strangers Club to find cocktails on par with New York, Chicago, or anywhere. The paper plane and old fashioned were amazing. When I ordered a Vieux Carré the owner opened a vintage bottle of benedictine that was given to him as a gift, so that he could make it right. Just amazing.
