Booked three nights at this hotel. Do not recommend and here are the many reasons why. ||Upon arrival, was told we did not have a booking. Showed receptionist the booking confirmation. They put us in a room with three single beds . What we had booked was a room with two king beds and a garden view. We got a tiny room with a “ window” that looks out into a hall and under stairs. Not only that, the light for the stairway is motion activated ? ( or broken) so it goes on and off constantly out the “ window” while you are trying to sleep. ||Let’s now move onto the first day. After getting over the initial shock of the room we got ( and the totally run down and aged , unkept look of the place in general), we have a nice first day in the city. ||Come back to our room and ????? Open door, and one of the three beds had been REMOVED FROM OUR ROOM! Now we have two beds in our room. No communication , no asking if we wanted the literal furniture taken out of our room and a half made bed left in its place . Very unsettling. And violating . ||NO HOT WATER - enough said. ||Let’s move onto next day … we are asked when we are checking out because they have no reservation for us for third night. Say we have to leave. Another guest booked. ||We refuse and only when I start to make a scene does the manager on the phone to his sweet , but controlled by a jerk worker say we can stay if “ we pay an extra 75 soles” for our tiny room with no hot water room. A room we had already booked and paid for two nights previously. Said we only paid for two people. Tried all the angles. We would not let them get away with it . ||Then says we can only stay “ if we post a good review and screen shot it to prove we left a good review”. Just, wow. ||Other than that I’ll add that the towels are rough and very old, stained, the floors dirty ( feet turn dusty and dirty if no socks on), beds are lacking support ( very squishy), no pillow protectors on pillows, bedding does not fit for bed and the “ fitted” bottom sheet slides off as soon as you sit on bed. No mattress protectors, peeling wall paper, cracked, half painted / repaired walls.||The rooms not soundproofed at all. YOU HEAR EVERYTHING. It’s like I was transported to a New York City turn- of-the-century tenement building. ||Wanted at first to give it the benefit of the doubt, but it went from bad to unbelievably worse. I’ve never left a bad review before. I’m very patient. This place is bizarre and underhanded.||The reception staff are nice though. Very sweet, and the sheets were clean. ||Believe the 1 star reviews. Wish I had . If I could give - 1 review I would....
Read moreWe stayed 5 days, they gave us the room 202. Location is good and we enjoyed the view from the third floor terrace, at night you can watch the stars and by day you can enjoy the views of the Misti volcano and the Chachani covered with snow. ||||The bed was great and we had a perfect rest every night. Our room was big enough and we had hot water every time (only once we need to contact front desk because it wasn’t working but they fixed it in a minute). ||||Our room was located just below the metalic stairs that lead to the third floor terrace, so in the morning it can be a little noisy while guests get upstairs to have breakfast, and that might be annoying if you have light sleep. ||||I’d improve the bathroom with a hook to hang the towel and also a hand towel and a little shelve would be nice too. ||||If you are planning to stay out late be sure to let the front desk staff know, one night we came back at midnight and we had to wait outside for 15 minutes, calling front desk and ringing the doorbell with no success. We were afraid they will not hear us and all our staff was in our bedroom. ||||Breakfast was very good but it was actually served around 8.30am everyday we stayed there, they wait for all the guest to gather at the terrace. The local traditional bread was awesome, cheese, ham, jam, eggs, sausage, juices, fresh milk, coffee, yogurt, cereal and fresh fruit. ||||For ther price is an excellent choice, a taxi to Plaza de Armas was around US$1.50, we hired Uber or walked to the corner of the street and found a lot of taxis. Also, you can walk to the Plaza, it takes about 15-20 minutes. There’s a lovely park nearby and the area was very...
Read moreHi All,||I just returned from my stay at the hotel. Just a few points why I do not recommend this place:||1. Charged a 5% convenience fee to pay for the reservation||2. The room had a window facing the hallway covered with a see-through curtain, not allowing privacy||3. The bed is short||4. Only one-night table, and storage is a closet without any space to hang jackets - just shelfs.||5. The place was great 20 years ago, and now it is an outdated hotel||6. NO HOT WATER, and when informed by the front desk, some answer that it does not make sense||7. 20-25 min walk to Centro||On the positive side:||8. Located in a nice neighborhood, but you have to walk, which is not a big deal||9. Good breakfast||10. Friendly staff||||One thing I cannot blame them for is that on the last day, the neighborhood lost electricity. It can happen, but how you manage it is the key.||We had breakfast, and instead of stating, sorry, no omelet - there was no word, no communication, no explanation - have coffee, bread, and cheese until things get fixed. I left the breakfast and the hotel - not angry - but surprised that the staff has made no effort to manage the inconvenience. ||Since I paid the hotel upon arrival, I had no problem with check out, but other guests had it due to lack of electricity.||||Anyway, there are other hotels in Arequipa. Chose a modern one in old downtown and go with a hotel-brand name. Arequipa is an excellent place for 2-3 days, with plenty of options. I do not understand other reviews that did not pointed out the distance from the center, but it is ok.||||Enjoy the city and have...
