My boyfriend and I stayed at a hotel in town for a couple nights when we first arrived in Cusco. There are lots of nice places, but not much they can do to mitigate the noise in town. The cars on the cobbled streets and the nightly fireworks were a lot. After hiking the Inca Trail we booked 2 nights at the Inka Tambo Hacienda, and then planned on hotel hopping for the rest of our stay in Cusco. The reviews noted the peace and quiet and that sounded like just what we needed. It’s set out of town, but the 20 minute walk from town is nice in the evening, or it’s a quick and cheap taxi journey (or rent a motorcycle like we did!). After the first night, we knew we had to extend our stay! The beds are SO comfy, we had a view of grass and trees from our room, and all we heard were birds singing. Alberto was the most gracious host, and was always around if we needed help with anything. He made us the best eggs every morning along with fresh juice, coffee, bread, plus cereal, yogurt, fruit, and coca tea. We visited during the rainy season which tends to be slower, so we ate breakfast alone in a sunny room overlooking the garden every day. The house is so beautiful and full of history, and it felt cozy, like we were visiting family. There are comfy lounge areas, a peaceful yard, and a beautiful courtyard to relax in. In the end, our two days ended up being ten! I’d recommend this to any traveler who’s willing to walk an extra few minutes from town for the peace and quiet, and we’ll definitely be staying here next time we...
