Negative stars!!! We made an Expedia reservation for this place. When we arrived at Hotel Mamasara in the early evening, the receptionist basically told us that we did not have a reservation, did not have a room, and showed us the door even when we showed him all our paperwork. This was the result even after he called the manager or whomever was in charge as we overheard and understood the whole conversation. There was no apology nor any assistance to even find us a room elsewhere. Mind you we made this booking weeks in advance, booked a one night stay for 2 adults and 2 small kids and reserved a triple bed room. We saw the room reservation list and they basically gave away our room for a tour group that was coming from eastern Europe. Imagine us scrambling to get a place to sleep for the night last minute on our first night in Cusco with the symptoms of altitude sickness already setting in. Do not let this happen to you! Secure a room with a reputable hotel brand and not this mom and pop never heard hotel that may cancel your booking on a whim. The savings is not worth the headache and severe inconvenience. And frankly, it is not even in a good location, is quite a walk from the center of town. It is old and dingy, there is nothing quaint about this haunted looking hotel and there are lots and lots of better options with better customer service and western standards. And to top it all, they still had the nerve to charge us for a room we did not have. I am now fighting the charges with my credit card company as Expedia customer service is the worst! This hotel is completely unprofessional. Do not book here or you may end up without a room reservation. For the price they charge, there are many comparable and better places that won't treat customers like the way we were treated. ...

Read moreI stayed at this hotel while doing a tour group so I didn’t choose the hotel myself. It seemed to be popular among tour groups. The location was better than I expected. It looks far on a map but was a reasonable walk to the Plaza. ||||It was very clean, decent size rooms with hot water and staff was nice. Breakfast was good, not anything fancy. The layout is terrible if there are noisy guests in the halls. Also, there were lots of dogs barking at night but on my last night there the area where the dogs hung out was being fenced in which seemed to get rid of the problem. ||||We ate at the hotel one night. I’m not sure if they always serve food or if this was arranged just for my group. The chicken soup was great. The vegetarian dinner was a joke. It was an avocado stuffed with peas, carrots and mayonnaise. It looked awful and I couldn’t even bring myself to try it. ||||Overall it was a decent hotel but the guests keeping us awake from midnight-2 am were terrible. I don’t know what the staff did, if anything to ask them to be quieter. I wouldn’t stay here again and risk that issue again while...
