I feel a little guilty knocking this hostel as the owner was so lovely but how it’s passable to leave the rooms as cold and tired as they are is beyond me. ||My room was at the rear where it’s just a metal roof and gaps around the window/door letting out any warm air you might have generated huddled in your coat in bed! Even sleeping in multiple layers under the heavy blankets is still uncomfortable. ||I asked to have a heater but was advised this isn’t possible due to the room rate but would have been willing to pay for more heating. They have two big gas patio heaters in the communal area but these aren’t used so there is nowhere at all to sit and defrost. To surely provide at least a hot water bottle or hairdryer would be a cheap way of tackling the cold a bit. To top things off the maid left my window open the 2nd day so came back to an even colder room. ||Room was very basic. Ceiling was peeling, gaps between walls and floors were crumbling, only one power socket high up on the wall with a dodgy extension cable, lights flickered before coming on and random posters of ghandi, John Lennon and Steve Jobs stare down on you in bed. ||The bathroom felt dark and dirty with a dark red sink and toilet and dark tiles. Soap was unwrapped so unsure if it’s a previous guests. Shower curtain looked years old with mould. Shower hard to adjust, is either boiling or freezing. Ran stone cold multiple times. No water past 9:30pm first night, second day the water for my room was turned off which is just strange for an occupied room where I wasn’t wasting it. ||The pros were the location, around a ten min pretty flat walk to Plaza De Armas, the English speaking host (she was warm and welcoming whilst nothing else was!) and cheap speedy laundry but I wouldn’t rebook solely on these pluses alone. Perhaps the other higher scoring reviewers had a thicker...
Read moreFirst thing, if you like taking a shower in hot water, this place isn't for you.||||This crappy place turns down the water to it's clients on purpose!||On our first night (out of 2) the water suddenly stopped running in all of the rooms.||||It was freezing!||When we asked for a heater the owners reply was "heating is expansive"!!!!!! ||||We asked the cheap owner why there isn't any water, so she said there's maintenance in the entire street (nothing we've heard about).||||We insisted with her it's important for us to shower and that it's not ok. Suddenly the water came back for 20 minutes!||||The second day was the same! The water stopped running at around 9 PM||And we heard the cheap lire telling new guests that water can only be turned on for 20 minutes because of maintenance and that sort of rubbish.||||This is the cheapest, lousiest place we've stayed at.||doesn't worth 10$ a night, and even the hot water with the dried Coca leaves are served cold.||||Bad place,...
Read moreI give them a 5 star rating for congeniality and fairness along with location and personality. The room was very nice and the beds were very comfortable and warm. This is a very old and well kept building located just a few minutes walk to the main Plaza de Armas of Cusco. We found it to be a very pleasant and enjoyable experience for the low cost of only $20.00 for 2 people per night and a wonderful $3.00 price for breakfast of eggs fresh cheese from the area, hot milk with the cafe' for those preferring milk with their cafe' over hot water, tea, hot bread and jelly that would cost much more in any of the local restaurants. We can not say enough wonderful things about the staff and service. The rooms were clean, there was very hot water for showers which helped with warming our bodies after a day of trekking on the cold Cusco air. We would definitely stay at the Kay Pacha again in a future visit. We highly recommend...
