We had a wonderful stay at Akilpo Home. The rooms are spacious, very clean, and the bed was amazing (very large and comfortable). The staff at Akilpo are very thoughtful and you can discuss and plan any hike with them. Everything is well explained, and if you go independently, they also provide you with a map of the hike. Everyone at Akilpo Home was extremely friendly and helpful — it really felt like home.
Luis was our guide for the panorama trek to Laguna 69. He was an incredibly kind and attentive guide who had truly thought of everything. He had all sorts of things in his backpack: warm tea, a box of cookies, lollipops, and even rice and wraps to go with the delicious Indian lunch. The breakfast before we started the trek was also very tasty and well-prepared!
Luis was a really lovely and kind guide! We would like to thank everyone at Akilpo Home, especially Luis — world champion pancake maker and exceptional guide! We can only recommend this place — it...

Run by 3 brothers, Akilpo Home is truly a gem! The beds are incredibly comfortable and the whole place feels warm safe clean and welcoming. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and go above and beyond to make sure you feel at home. Property us beautifully renovated. Beautiful courtyard garden. Communication was excellent from start to finish — they helped with shuttle arrangements, guided experiences, and had spot-on suggestions (with detailed instructions) for activities in the area.
The food was absolutely excellent — fresh, flavorful, and served with care. Every detail felt thoughtfully taken care of, making my stay smooth, fun, and stress-free.
If you’re looking for a place that combines comfort, hospitality, and seamless coordination for your adventures in Peru, Akilpo Home is it. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful — I can’t recommend it...
Read moreWe stayed here first three nights in a twin room (303) and after a trek one more night in a matrimonial room (401). Akilpo Home is like a little oasis in crazy Huaraz. The people are very kind and helpful. In terms of noise and water pressure we liked our first room a little better. In terms of having a place to sit outside the second. The beds are comfortable and it’s extremely clean. Furthermore they don’t ‘sell’ trekkings to you, but are there to advice listing to your preferences and then they arrange everything for you if you want them to. We were very happy with the two trekkings they advised because they were very much to our liking. Good thing to know, what they call light many average hikers will call medium to heavy 😜. We wil definitely go back if we’re ever...
