Hotel Europa — Hotel in Iquitos

The hotel staff were friendly, offered airport pickup, rooms spacious and clean, however this hotel did not have a lot of the things that were advertised. I was staying at this hotel just for the night because I was headed to the Amazon the next day. I arrived around 6pm and I’m a solo female so I wanted to just arrive at the hotel, not leave and eat dinner there, then go to sleep. Upon arrival I asked where the restaurant was just to be told there was no restaurant. I was extremely disappointed as that was the reason I booked this hotel and it advertised that there was one. As a young solo female traveler I did not feel comfortable walking around by myself at night but I was forced to walk to the nearest convenience store to grab a snack for dinner. The next morning I went to breakfast, which was mediocre at best, that was located in the supposed restaurant. So there is a restaurant, but it’s only open for breakfast I suppose. There was a pool at this hotel as well however there was no water in it, so I’m glad I wasn’t planning to use the pool. There was also no hot water for the shower. The hotel itself overall is fine, just extremely misleading and did not have many of the things advertised...

Era la segunda vez que me hospedo en dicho hotel. La primera fue una experiencia agradable. La segunda sin embargo dejó mucho que desear. Llegamos con mi pareja y nos dijeron que estaban fumigando algunos pisos del hotel y que nos moverían a una mejor habitación, la cual era más amplia sin embargo al intentar cerrar la cortina que daba a la calle, se salieron los clavos que sujetaban el travesaño. Por centímetros no golpea en la cabeza a mi pareja y luego nos dieron una habitación muchísimo más pequeña. El administrador, quien se encontraba en el hotel, ni siquiera fue capaz de subir a ver qué había sucedido, tuvimos que bajar a hablar con él y nos dijo que nos estaba dando la habitación que corresponde al precio (la habitación pequeña, anteriormente habíamos pagado igual por una habitación de mejor calidad que la habitación pequeña). Lo cual fue sorprendente porque ya un empleado anteriormente nos había dicho que la habitación que nos estaba dando era de menor costo. Además no nos pidió ni disculpas por el incidente. Asimismo la habitación que nos entregó estaba preparada solo para una persona. Nos dijo que era la única que tenía de ese precio. Más que él incidente, el cual pudo haber tenido peores consecuencias, el señor ni siquiera mostró interés por hacer que nosotros nos sintamos a gusto, ni por ir a ver qué había sucedido con los huéspedes, o si todo estaba bien. Hotel Europa was a perfect place for our group to stay. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly and nice. It feels very safe. Breakfast was simple but good and it was nice to have air conditioning. The only down side is that not all the rooms had hot water. Ask for a room that is not right on Prospero as those rooms can be loud due to all the motorcar traffic. Would definitely stay there again. Also, great location. Can walk to plaza de armas or...
