Apologies for the long review ahead. The hostel itself is not terrible, but nor is incredibly great. As it stacks up against other hostels in Peru I would say it was just average/below average. That is, barring the unprofessional behaviour of the female receptionist, which I would say took this review down further.||||Briefly, on the positive, it is clean, comfortable, basic, cheap, wifi is fast and it is fairly close to the town square. There is, however, no kitchen to use, no laundry on site, no breakfast included, no real "hang out area" in the lobby, a very noisy street just outside, and we found the female receptionist to be frankly quite rude and unprofessional. The male receptionist (not sure if this is a husband/wife team) was quite pleasant in contrast. ||||Our problem arose when we initially arrived and were asked for payment. We were told by the male receptionist that connection to use the visa machine was unavailable and would be better tomorrow (admittedly our Spanish is extremely poor but this is what we could surmise). The following day we were asked for payment by the female receptionist (who greeted us in her pyjamas at noon) and asked about Visa/credit payment. She said that it was cash only payment. In hindsight, I saw this on the booking.com that it indicated this was the case, but they clearly have stickers of credit card companies plastered on their front window indicating that they accept credit payment. Otherwise why would they have them literally on the front door? We eventually paid in cash as it was apparent we were not going to be able to pay with visa.||||I wrote a booking.com review of this just as we were leaving. Before we departed, I was called by the female receptionist to the front where she berated me for my booking.com review about the false advertising regarding the ability to pay with credit. I was called forward to the front desk like some school kid to be scolded, and frankly found the whole situation very embarrassing and extremely unprofessional.||||Sure, this hostel is basic and cheap and could suit many travellers. I personally, however, would not recommend this hostel solely based on the deplorable behaviour of the female receptionist and her general rude air throughout our stay. I'm surprised other previous guests had more positive things to say about the staff, perhaps it was the male receptionist they...
Read moreWas travelling to here with a group of friends for work. We've been travelling for 5 weeks around Latin America and south America and this was by far the worst hostal hotel we've stayed in.||The hotel is dull and dated ,The beds are wrapped in a plastic sheeting which when you move clings to you at every chance. The bed had this strange cover on and was covered in marks and stains including a very interesting pink lipstick mark which clearly showed it had not been cleaned.||The bathroom was small upon going to the bathroom in the night in the dark I hit my head on the wall as the sink and toilet are in a terrible position. The bathroom had a strange window that would not close meaning again it was cold!!.||The room it's self had a tv,a fan that had no output and no lamp meaning when I wanted to dim the light I had to use my laptop. The windows had cracks in meaning that part of the window was missing meaning it was super cold!!!It was also dirty with cobwebs on the windows and on the window barriers and a strange damp smell that just would not budge! ||The noise is the main thing that will drive you crazy here do not expect a ounce of sleep - beep beep zoom.Every second is not what you want when your trying to explore a new city.||WiFi is non existent in some places and you have to balance your laptop mid air for a signal. There are a gazillion rules you must follow and it almost feels like a backpacker prision.||The lady running the place was no help when asked about places to go,eat,do laundry.Really not a face for tourism or the attitude for it either.||Stay here is you just need somewhere to dump your bags - don't stay here if you expect to sleep or enjoy your trip...
Read moreWe stayed here for two nights to break up the bus ride to Mancora. |We chose this hostel because it's a short walking distance (5mins or so) to Cruz Del Sur bus station. It was also close to the historic city centre of Trujillo where all the sights and restaurants are.|The owner was super friendly and helpful. On our last day our bus to Mancora was at 11pm and he was more than happy to store our bags safely in a back room until we needed to head to the bus station.|The room was super clean and was cleaned every day we stayed there (this is the first time we experienced this) every other hostel we have stayed in didn't bother cleaning our room once.|The shower was big, the bed was comfortable and the pillows were soft. The comfiest bed we have experienced on our travels in Peru so far.|Yes the cars are noisy and beep a lot... But all the hostels we have stayed in were super noisy too from doorbells to people chatting outside our room. So the cars to us weren't a problem. I have really good ear plugs and we actually slept in for the first time in ages and had a...
