Dependable, mid-range hotel that caters to Western expectations. Staff is very friendly and service is prompt. Location is good - walking distance to a variety of shopping and dining options as long as you're OK navigating the elusive and sometimes treacherous Baguio streets and sidewalks!
Located directly next to the Victory Liner bus depot for Baguio, this is a great hotel option. You spend a little more but the quality is good.
Rooms have free wi-fi, in-room safe, armoire with hangers, blackout curtains and television with a surprisingly good selection of both local and international programming. Baguio's climate is famously mild but there is a small in-room AC unit should you so desire. Bed is firm but comfortable and there are ample blankets and linens to stay warm enough at night if you tend to sleep cooler. Electrical outlets on either side of the bed.
Bathroom has a separate shower area with a shower curtain so the rest of the bathroom stays dry. Western-style toilet. Toothbrush/toothpaste provided (disposable) as well as bar soap. Shower offers a single dispenser of hair/body wash. There's a fridge in the room as well as a carafe for water and glasses and an ice bucket. Drinking water is located from a central dispenser in the hallway (don't drink the tap water in Baguio or elsewhere in the Philippines). No hot water pot or coffee/tea in the room.
Wi-fi is relatively reliable but can be slow at times. Should support audio/video but be prepared for freezing frames and other glitches from time to time. There's a nice (but narrow) desk area with a chair and an outlet so you can work fairly comfortably. Wi-Fi password changes every three days, so you will have to update your devices accordingly if you are staying a long time.
SM City Baguio mall is located within a 10-minutes walk and offers a good variety of shops and restaurants from local to international as well as a movie theater on-site. Electronics shops as well as clothing and other sundries. Excellent views of Baguio from the upper floors to satiate social media mavens.
On-site buffet breakfast available. Basic Filipino favorites - rice, meat, fruit, salad makings - as well as scrambled eggs, toast and cereal. Unfortunately, breakfast is VERY crowded and seating is limited. Go early or you may find you can’t eat in a timeframe convenient to your plans for the day.
Downtown is a slightly longer walk or you can hire a Grab or taxi or even a jeepney if you can decipher which one to get on!
Although it's next to a bus station I wasn't disturbed by any noise. Walls between rooms are thin so beware you might be heard by others as well as hear some of their conversations if you work at it. I will definitely stay here on future visits to Baguio. Somewhat central location means it shouldn't be too difficult to call a taxi or Grab to take you...
Read moreWhat's there not to like? It is next door to the Victory Liner Depot. Once you get off the bus, you can walk to the hotel. It has good views of the mountains and the trees. The room rate you pay includes breakfast. And it is very reasonable. There were three of us, we booked a room with two queen beds for P4600 for an overnight stay.
The rooms are clean. No smells of mold or mildew. The bathroom has good water pressure, hot and cold water, a bidet, sufficient towels and the toilet paper, soap, shampoo, toothpaste and a toothbrush are included in the room fee. They even provide a complimentary laundry bag for your dirty clothes, a pencil and notepad in case you need to write something down. There's hot and cold drinking water from a dispenser at the lobby of every floor. They have ample parking in front and in the back.
Their breakfast buffet offers a great selection of food. When we arrived, they had bangus and cocktail hotdogs, veggies, fruits, eggs, toast, cereal, coffee, tea and orange juice.
The next morning, they had tuna, tocino and chicken nuggets and taho. They had a mango vinaigrette offered as dressing for the salad. I tried it on the tuna fish slices. Superb pairing. I decided to try it as syrup for the soy pudding (taho). Also good. Fruity sweet and tart at the same time.
The rooms make you feel secure what with the card key entry. They have a smoke detector in the room and sprinklers. At the end of the hall, the exit and stairs are well-lighted.
The entrance lobby is cozy. There's a foyer with benches for guests to sit on while they wait for their car or taxi.
It is a short walk to the SM Baguio. It's also just a stroll away from the Baguio Public Market which is at the foot of Session Road. It's also just a stroll away from the Baguio Night Market on Harrison Road. Although, I must say, if you plan walk back to the hotel from the market, you may tire because it will be an uphill climb. And if you are toting around a lot of gulay, ukay finds, peanut brittle and ube jam, it will be wise to take a...
Read moreMicrotel by Wyndham is an award-winning 4-storey hotel, conveniently located just a stone throw away from Victory Liner bus station. Right now, they have a promo of 50% discount to walk-in clients, which we actually had when we stayed there during our visit in The City of Pines, Baguio City! We (there were 4 of us) occupied a 2-queen bed room which was tagged at 7,800 pesos, but got it for only 4,600 pesos per night. It was a little confusing coz if you are going to the basement, you need to press 2 on the lift, and for the lobby, one needs to press the number 4 button 😅 Anyway, they have free breakfast (from 6:30 to 10 in the morning in Te Quiero Tapas Bar and Restaurant), and free coffee and ice any time of the day. So, for a coffeeholic like me, it's like being in 7th heaven! 😍 One can read the daily news papers at the lobby while having coffee. For every additional guest, there will be an additional charge of 750 pesos per person, per day. Children 12 years old and below, who will share a bed with an adult, are free of room charge but will be charged 250 pesos for breakfast. About the room, they have free wifi, parking space and rooms for people with special needs. There is a cable ready 32" flat screen tv, a strong a/c unit, a digital radio with alarm, a white page, and a holy bible by the bedside table. The washroom has a hairdryer, a soap or shampoo dispenser, and a big circular showerhead, which to my dismay, did not produce a rain-like down pour of water. The water was all clumped up in one side.Unfortunately, there is no doorbell installed, so you need to knock, which i find so embarrassing since others might be sleeping. The staff were very accommodating, and cordial. The check in and check out time was very efficient! Besides those things, our stay was remarkably great!
KUDOS to the staff and management of...
