I was housed at Ronaldo’s Inn together with a group of friends as part of a travel package. I admit that I am to blame for my own bad experience simply by failing to research about the package I was getting myself into. It was my first time to travel using a travel agency and I had no idea that these were the kinds of places they were tied up with.||||Here are points I’d like to share about my experience at Ronaldo’s Inn during my May 2018 Siargao Trip:||||1. ENVIRONMENT - The area reeked of stale urine and poor sanitation.||||2. RESTAURANT||- I agree that the food was quite good and cheap. ||- But the area is dirty (just like everywhere else in the place). ||- We couldn’t finish our meal in peace because a cat kept jumping on our chairs and laps. Members of staff would, once in a while, carry the cat off from our area but would only put it down a few meters away so that it would come running towards the guests the moment it landed on the floor. At some point, it jumped into our table and managed to take a piece of food from a plate, so we had to throw away everything from that plate. Worst of all, the staff knew what was going on but did not have the sense of urgency to deal with the situation.||||3. BATHROOM||- Filthy, disgusting, unmaintained||- Stench of stale urine welcomed us as we entered the first time||- Used soap bars from previous occupants were left on the shelves||- Rust, mold, and dirt everywhere: shower, toilet, walls, floors, shelves, sink||- Weak water pressure due to faulty shower head||- They re-cleaned the bathroom upon our request, but not much changed afterwards.||||4. ROOM||- Dirty floor upon arrival||- Bath towels were not properly dried and smelled really bad, not to mention, looked old and dirty. They use the type that leaves lint all over your body after use. ||- Bed linens didn’t smell fresh and clean.||- The staff were quick to replace the towels and linen upon our request, but yet again, nothing much changed except that the new towels were dry.||||Upon arrival, we immediately searched for quality hotels to transfer to regardless of the fact that our payment at Ronaldo’a Inn was non-refundable. Unfortunately, all options were fully booked.||||Overall, the stay was very affordable but the experience was very unpleasant. If on a tight budget, it would be worth researching for places that are easy on the pocket but reasonably clean and tidy. ||||I wouldn’t mind paying a bit more on my next trip if it means paying for comfort, cleanliness, and good service which is definitely something your money doesn’t go into if you stay at...
Read moreI'm the type of traveler that doesn't really complain much with regards to accommodations. But I have to write this review to give others an idea on what to expect with Ronaldo's. Our initial plan was to stay at Kermit's but made our booking too late so we ended up here via a recommendation from our tour guide. Big mistake. The only positive that I can think about the place was the price. But that in my opinion doesn't even come close to offsetting the negatives.||||Let's start with the bathroom. The sink drain leaks, so everytime you use it water splashes all over your feet. There are no shelves to put toiletries. There are no hooks to place your towels. There's no toilet paper. We had to provide our own. For a beach resort it's amazing that they don't have any drying racks (or even a clothesline for that matter). We had to hang our wet swim wear and beach towels on the patio chairs and railings outside our room.||||On our second night we came back to our room with the front door teeming with ants. They moved us the an adjacent room which turned out to have no closet. The last occupant just moved a sofa inside so they can pile their clothes on top of it instead of setting them on the floor. The bathroom shower was leaking due to a bad shutoff valve. When I informed someone about it, I was told that it's always been that way. I guess they couldn't be bothered with fixing it.||||So folks, save yourselves the trouble and stay as far away from this resort...
Read moreStayed at Ronaldo's on recommendation of a friend. Much of Siargao is dominated by resorts that are not pitched at the budget traveler. Ronaldo's is a great place for people who are used to no-frills, Philippine inn accommodations.||||The rooms are clean and spartan. We stayed in an air-conditioned room, with hot and cold shower, but not much else. Very clean and quiet. It is not a beachfront property, but the beach is literally a 20 meter walk away once you cross the road out front and navigate your way between the beachfront resorts.||||The simple restaurant is simple, but offers tasty, budget meals. Had a burger there, and BBQ most nights. They did run out of beer one of the nights we were there, but that was easily solved by walking a few doors down to the corner store.||||Ronaldo's can set up surfing lessons and rents bikes. It's a great choice for the no-frills,...
