Buonana — Restaurant in General Luna

Okay, YUM. With so many options to choose from in Siargao in terms of good eats, it can be hard to stand out. But Buonana really shines! I think it was my favorite dessert I had on the island. It’s delicious, relatively healthy and guilt-free, and vegan! I got the Nutty Gritty bowl because I’m a sucker for toppings and it did not disappoint. Such a nice balance of creamy and crunchy, and I also walked out with a jar of their homemade peanut butter—which is delicious, a bit sweet, and free of all the nasty stuff in the store bought stuff. Definitely stop by if you’re hankering for a sweet treat in General Luna!

A bit expensive for what it is, but refreshing and semi-guilt free. Would really like it if they had more flavors. Banana and Açaí aren’t everyone’s thing...I think I saw in a previous review that they used to have carob (aka vegan chocolate) flavor, so maybe I just got unlucky and came on a day they ran out? ¯(ツ)/¯ Also the lack of coconut cream/milk in the ice cream means it’s more of a “shaved ice” texture than a creamy soft serve. Didn’t really satisfy my craving...either way the price and lack of selection is the main reason this is a four instead of a five...

Buonana offers a decent experience, but there are some drawbacks. The location is uncomfortably cold, with the AC set to a strong 23 degrees. The portions are quite small for the price of 210 PHP. I tried the banana and acai twist; the presentation was nice, but it felt more like a smoothie with a McFlurry texture rather than traditional ice cream. The service was satisfactory.
