This is NOT a complaint. It is however constructive criticism. The managers and staff are very nice. Eventually I wish to buy stock in Sogo and hope to be one of the Directors and attend board of directors' meetings. Although a niche of Sogo is providing a safe and discreet venue for couples with romantic intentions. Sogo hdoes very well serving that romantic "short time" stay, usually about a few hours up to about a day. However, I needed a longer stay. In this trip, I needed to stay for a few weeks. The following describes my stay at the Sogo Hotel Dau close to the Dau Victory Liner bus station. The internet WiFi never worked, so a Sogo Dau manager gave me the Sogo Hotel admin password. The music channel was replaced with a terrible COVID-19 presentation about using carcinogenic UVC lights everywhere for everything. Actually many of the channels were different than what is expressed in the channel guide. The hair dryer did not work, nor it's outlet. The spring rod that is supposed to gently close the entrance door was not attached. The rubber door stop is missing. The sink in bathroom continually leaked causing slippery floors. I never got a restock if toilet paper, only once I got was given new toiletries. Only 3 times I was given bottled water. The room had zero outlets that work except for the TV. When I took down the TV to access it's electric outlets, a warning sign above the TV reads "Disconnection of TV will trigger alarm." (So either no alarm went off, or the staff at Sogo Dau are too deaf to hear the alarm). The TV tint is very green. The mood light and cove light and light above the mirror did not work ... Plus to add injury to misery, it seemed like every day, I would get at the worst times and urgent ring ring ring when will you pay your 10 peso food bill or sorry wrong number then again knock knock knock room check room check room check room check room check ring ring ring sorry wrong person knock knock knock room check room check room check ring ring ring sir your bill of 80 pesos what room check room check ring ring ring knock knock knock room check room check room check room check room check. DEBA!? The food was good. The air conditioner was very loud but it worked well. And the lights that worked, most could be turned on and off with a central switch on...
Read moreThis is a basic by-the-hour type hotel catering mainly to couples. Hence the car garages, where one can hide ones car. The Executive rooms are romantically themed, with colored lighting and ceiling mirrors. Basic bed and bathroom with jacuzzi. It's not unusual to hear outside noises as the walls are thin. There are no electrical outlets near the bed, so plan on getting up often to check your gadget if it's charging. Floors and walls are clean as is the bathroom, generally. Room service is fast, with an extensive menu, but the food quality is mediocre. Overall impression - if you're looking for a quick rendezvous with no frills and minimal furniture, this is the place. Edit 29 June 2025: I had occasion to stay here again due to an extended power outage where I live. Unfortunately the experience was less than satisfactory. A couple of things; the phone didn't work at all - dead, I found the toilet valve turned off and soon I realised why, the water tank overflowed when I opened the valve so of course I closed it, proving that the faulty tank has been overflowing and they don't fix it, room service takes 30 minutes for a simple order and this is true even they have a statement saying if the food is not delivered in 10 minute it's free. Of course they don't honor that pledge, it's just a marketing gimmick. Finally, the price has increased substantially. Now it's over 600 pesos for 3 hours. 7 hours is a whopping 1370 pesos. Unless I hear of improved conditions I will avoid this Sogo...
Read moreSogo Hotel is located very near the huge Dau bus terminal. It is convenient if you're travelling to/from Clark Airport. I was confused about the hotel size because I saw entries on the main road and 400m almost opposite the bus station.I arrived very tired after a long flight and I had to wait 5-10 minutes to check in despite three of the four receptionists not doing much. Sogo hotel is mainly used as a "love" hotel in Philippines but the location of the Dau hotel means other travellers use it too. You may occasionally be smiled at in the lobby. The room was at the end of a long corridor, i received a soft pack of towels/sheet and a small hard pack of toiletries. The room looked utilitarian when I entered but it was clean enough. There was no headboard and the wall behind was not flat. The room had aircon switched on by default and I had to spend 5 minutes looking for the controls. The mattress was on the hard side and seemed to use lots of protection to keep it clean. There was every you needed for a sleep but the room was battered, toilet seat only was attached on one side. The shower said turn left for hot water but after waiting for 5 minutes I tried turning it to right and it worked fine. There is hot food available but I didn't really fancy it. I slept well and it was quiet, check out was easy. All in all it's a hotel that's good for utility. Filipinos should get cheaper rates for walk ins. I will still stay there due to the...
