Booked a bed in the dormitory about two weeks before new years eve as this was the only place that did not cost minimum of 100 USD per night left. Was slightly discouraged since I did realize that the location was not down at the White Beach where I wanted to stay. To my surprise however White Beach is a 10-15min walk from the hostel through a small local back alley.||||Had planned to stay 3 nights, ended up staing 7 nights. The staff is super friendly and will help you out with absolutely anything you could require.||||They serve an OK breakfast (better options at the beach of course). The dormitory has 8 beds and is mixed genders, it has air-con and a fan. The wifi does not reach the dormitory. In the morning there is a lot of roosters cuckooing you awake, along with a couple of barking dogs and what not, so do bring ear-plugs.||This place is great to meet other travelers if you are alone. They serve cold beer in the lounge area where you have access to wifi, and they do not charge more than the vendors for the beer which is really appreciated.||||Do not pay more than maximum 50 pesos from the port to the hostel (20 should be enough), if you jump on a motorbike with locals on it you can go down to station 3 for 10 pesos and station 2 for 20 pesos. It will be a bit tricky to get home if you are not walking from the bottom of station 3 though as this establishment is relatively new and many drivers do not know it. They will have to drive around the area since the street from the hostel is one-way only, and for this they will charge you extra, from station 3 you should be able to get away with 50 pesos if you are alone or 100 pesos for a shared motorbike, do not pay more than the maximum 150 pesos at any time for a ride. Just opposite of the hostel there is a local shop that sells noodles, snacks and drinks, they also serve local food if you want to eat really, really cheap. ||||The beds are very comfortable and the hostel is very clean, it feels fresh. There good hot-water shower and you just have to ask for a towel. On the roof there is a sun deck (but honestly, you are not in Boracay 10min away from White Beach to stay at a roof top).||||I recommend this accommodation for people traveling on a budget, both in groups, alone and couples as there are rooms as well as...
Read moreBooked this hostel as I needed a place to stay in the night before an early morning flight. So I looked for a place near Cagban port, which was just what My Hostel is. I got a bed in one six-bed dorm. There was a trouble when i checked in because the family who was at the moment occupying the room I was supposed to stay in didn't want to share it with a stranger. Like, hello, you booked for a dorm-type accommodation as it appears you weren't willing to pay for a private room for your party, so what are you being picky about now??? These people need to be exposed more to travel, I thought. And so after several minutes, it ended up that their group of seven would be staying in one room with six beds and me staying alone in another. Ha.||||Room and bed were very basic. Shower had hot and cold settings. Had to pay 50 pesos for the towel rental (hmm..). Wi-fi access wasn't that great in the room. One feature I liked was the security code for the gate. I got back to the hostel at 1am and had no problem going up to my room by myself. Staff could be warmer but I could see they were trying. Just a small bump on the whole experience is the time it took me to get checked out. I was leaving early at 6am and front desk staff was probably still asleep, so I had to ring the bell several times. I couldn't leave right away as I had to collect the P500 deposit I made when I checked in. Finally someone heard the bell and attended to me.||||I just wish I could've gone around the place a bit more but My Hostel was not at all a bad choice and will definitely stay there again given similar...
Read moreHere's the thing. If you're that person who likes it quiet, away from the crowds, don't mi d the very ling walk to the beach, then this is your place in the island. It's just a hop and a skip away from the Cagban Jetty port. We actually walked from My Hostel to the port early early in the morning and took us only a few minutes getting there. Amenities. The vare essentials. Service, non existent. What service would one want when hitting the beach? You'll be given two keys upon check in. One for the gate leading to the property, and the other, for your room. You'll have your standard bathroom. None of the upmarket bells and whistles. But, really, for the amount youre paying it is well worth it. There's no front desk person, no concierge, no grand stairway to a grand ballroom. None of that. But you have a nice clean, quiet, homey place you can rest in at the end of a long day running around...
