An incident happened during our stay at Sundown Resort and Austrian Pension. Unfortunately, I broke the tempered glass on top of the table located in the balcony. I know it’s my fault and very much willing to pay for it (but of course at a reasonable amount and its actual price quoted by the Aluminum and Glass company only). The table is small and its only a 2-seater and the tempered glass thickness is, I think, 1/4. I talked to the Filipina wife of the owner asking for its price, but for some reason, she told me that they need to call the Aluminum and Glass company first so that they can measure the actual size first before company will quote for the exact amount. I was also worried since it's a Sunday and most businesses are closed and it's our check-out day as well. ||||After the incident happened, I've also started researching online for an Aluminum and Glass company around Caticlan and Boracay and I even told the filipina wife that I will move to other hotel and if the company will not give the price on that same day, then I can be contacted anytime and of course willing to pay the amount of the tempered glass. But the Filipina wife said that I need to settle it on that same day. I also don't understand that she couldn't talk to me straight to my eyes as if she's hiding something from me, she will touch the table in the restaurant, will fix the table cloth even if everything is in order, etc while I was talking to her. Anyway, this is how I feel during the time I was talking to the filipina wife. Then, all of a sudden the wife disappear while I was talking to her. I then went straight to the receptionist named Sheika. According to Sheika the Austrian male owner is charging me for an overkill price of 3K pesos for a 2-seater tempered glass. I feel like it was a ripped off and the owner of the pension house really took advantage of the situation. ||||When I transferred to my next hotel, I asked around to the hotel staff and they know an Aluminum and Glass company in Boracay, station 3 where Sundown Resort is, and they did even help me to ask for its price and the company quoted around 2160 pesos including delivery which is a very reasonable amount. One company also quoted me online amounting to 1800 in Caticlan and they will deliver the tempered glass in the resort too. I am not just happy with what happened. Anyway, overall I am not happy with the owner especially to the filipina wife as she is not very accommodating to the guests. During our first day, my sister humbly asked the receptionist (Shieka) if we can reheat our food in the microwave oven. Shieka asked the filipina wife, but the wife without hesitation said NO. This is only a small kind of good practice, which I don't think a very big deal if you are the owner of the resort. I don't think they know the meaning what "kindness" is. The filipina wife does not know what a good customer service is. Even if you are the owner of the resort, you should know how to practice the meaning of customer service. But kudos to Shieka for a job well done and she's very...
Read moreThis end (Station 3) of Boracay is absolutely beautiful, and the beach is superb in front of Sundown. The beach path along this way is also a joy to walk along, and a pleasant 10 minutes gets you into the heart of the more populated shops and restaurants area. Our room was the only one just off to the side of the beach restaurant, and quite large and comfortable with two double beds. Drinks (happy hour every day from 4 PM) were also wonderful, as were the breakfasts (I enjoyed the fruit/muesli bowls, and my son had hearty "American Breakfast". We also stayed during the Australian Open Tennis Championships, and so got to enjoy exciting matches almost every night right after the gorgeous sunsets. Moreover, there is a bit of a reef out front, and my son and I enjoyed seeing a good variety of small fish, sea urchins, corals, and blue sea stars.||In short, we loved everything about our stay except one thing, and unfortunately, it was a deal breaker: SMOKE. It was everywhere, almost all the time -- despite beach rules and signs on the walls of the building to the contrary. We stayed for seven nights, and the second half of the week was a little better with less customers owing to the end of the tennis matches (and less sand bowling out front - which was fun to watch). ||This hotel deserves higher marks, and if you are an ex-pat who enjoys chatting it up with locals while watching sports on the tele, this is your place. But just be prepared for having...
Read moreThe place is impeccably clean and exceptionally spacious. Daily housekeeping services ensure that the house remains tidy. In Boracay, dining can be costly, especially for those traveling with family. It is advisable to purchase ingredients from the market and utilize the fully equipped kitchen provided at Sundown Resort Boracay. The house was sufficiently spacious to accommodate the four of us, featuring 2 queen beds, a well-appointed kitchen, full bath, and some loungers. While not extraordinary, the house was straightforward, well-maintained, and spacious, making it ideal for group travelers. Motorbike rentals are available on site for exploring the island. The staff at Sundown Resort are polite, accommodating, and trustworthy. I was pleasantly surprised upon returning to find that the house had been cleaned, indicating that it may have been accessed in our absence. Checking our belongings quickly eased my concerns, as everything was found to be intact. I highly recommend this hotel, as the quality of service provided is exceptional. The cocktails offered is of excellent quality, the rooms are consistently spotless and well-maintained, and the hotel staff is consistently attentive and willing to accommodate all requests. For anyone visiting Boracay and seeking a reasonably priced hotel with high standards, I encourage you to consider staying at this...
