From outside appearances this looks like the nicest hotel on the island, the pool is very nice and the location is great, however during our six night stay, we started in room 104 and after one night the floor drain in the bathroom was erupting with raw sewerage, they didn’t have a room to move us to immediately nor could they fix the problem so later that afternoon we moved to room 212, that room was in a really bad location overlooking souvenir shops at the very back of the hotel when I paid for a premium room, it also transitioned us from a king size bed to two double beds which holes were very worn, the room was hot because of the amount of sun and it was a larger room but the air conditioning unit could not keep up, the next day we were moved to room 204 which was a nice room but the hotel did not seem to do anything in a concession for that, room 204 still smelled like sewage in the bathroom but it was manageable, the service in the restaurant was horrible, they would serve you once but if you wanted to get a refill on water, it was like pulling teeth, they just didn’t come back and you had to flag them down, they added a 10% service charge to the bill so there was no incentive for them to come back, what really deserve this one star rating was upon check out, when I checked in I asked them if breakfast is included and they said no and I asked them if I could charge to a credit card when I check out in the answer was yes we take credit cards, upon checking out my incidentals and room charges were 21,000 pesos, a woman at the front desk tried to run my credit card about six times and clearly their credit card machine was off-line, I suggested that they take a picture of my credit card and run it through later and they said they cannot do that and they have no way of hand entering a credit card and I was getting late for my flight out of there, they told me I could not leave until I paid my bill in full and I said I don’t have those pesos on me and you told me you took a credit card there’s gonna be a back up plan, there was no back up plan so I said last chance take a picture of my credit card or I’m leaving I had transportation arranged, I got on a bus with my luggage and my girlfriend and we were detained immediately by their security guard so we could not leave the hotel, then as a last attempt I suggested that the hotel person come with me to an ATM, we went to two ATMs and they were also down and off-line, we were very late for our flight and had to hurry through the airport and finally the guy agreed to take a picture of our credit card we were overcharged for the taxi ride and I miserable way to exit the hotel. The staff and leader ship at that hotel should be ashamed I would not stay there again know what I recommend...

Paras Beach Resort is probably the biggest and best resort in Mambajao, Camiguin. I believe they have the best facilities and amenities among all hotels and resorts in the area. And its location is one of the best as it is directly facing the famous white island (sandbar) which is about 10 minutes away by banca (local motorized boat) The resort has a nice swimming pool in the center, surrounded by hotel rooms, cottages for dining, and its function hall. It is facing the sea. The beautiful Camiguin sunset can be witnessed here. We stayed in a dorm type room where all 13 of us stayed. Our team was there for 5 days and 4 nights to do our planning for our company. The minor problem is that there's only one toilet/bath for a room good for 12. (We had an extra bed for the 13th member of our team) It took time waiting for everyone to finish before we could go. But room amenities were very good. Nice bed, clean and crisp beddings, fresh towels changed daily, simple but nice and clean bathroom. The resort even provides extra towel for each guest, that can be brought to any destination within the island, also changed everyday upon request. Resort staff were all courteous and friendly. All our requests were immediately delivered. The pool amenities were very good. And the pool itself was well-maintained. I cannot comment on the food though, as we opted to have all our meals at the different destinations we visited in the island. We had complimentary coffee and service water though.

Stayed overnight with family. Room was basic but comfortable. The restaurant serves excellent food. We loved the pizza, smoothies, coffee, and breakfast options. The hotel’s atmosphere is relaxing. The pool is beautiful with the view of Hibok Hibok volcano in the backdrop and the ocean at the front. The proximity to boats for the white island sandbar is a huge plus, which is perfect if you intend to go to the sandbar early in the morning. There were loads of local restaurants near the resort, and there’s an ATM conveniently located across the road. Hot and cold shower took a while to warm up; housekeeping confirmed it was working, but the wait was longer than expected (5-10 min). That was really long. Staff were polite, but check-in process was lengthy due to a lot of briefing on hotel policies, including penalties for lost items and late checkout, as well as outside food brought and consumed inside the resort. Whilst standard, I felt the detailed explanation was quite excessive, mainly because I am a 'hotel' person staying quite a lot regularly at Marriott and IHG properties abroad, and therefore, I am pretty aware of all those stuff. Perhaps incidents prompted this thoroughness? Checkout was also delayed due to discrepancies in minibar charges, which weren’t initially included. Unclear why it took so long for room inspection. Overall, it was still a nice stay and our family really enjoyed their stay.
