Medano Sunset Resort — Hotel in Mambajao

“Not worth your money!!!!” The location is nice. But the facilities are pathetic!!!

Unprofessional—the front desk when we checked in was empty. We need to repeatedly call the attention of whoever is manning the premises and when the person shows up, the owner/manager I believe, was fumbling to wear his shirt. No idea that there was a booking via Agoda, I need to show him the reservation via the app and even the amount that is needed to be paid since the reservation is payment at the hotel. Throughout the duration of our stay especially when we are going out, he keeps looking at us as if we are taking something away from his resort. Accommodating is one thing but being nosey is different.

The other staffs are fine though. It’s just that they lack training, can’t even answer simple questions with regards to the accommodation. Needs extensive training.

The linens are super thin, and dusty. The towels are stinky—the type that was not completely dried out. They only provide one small soap for 3 pax for a 2 nights accommodation. No shampoos provided either.

For 2 days stay, they did not clean the room much more change linens.

When we entered the room, MOSQUITOES ARE EVERYWHERE!!!!! Like EVERYWHERE!! Even until the bathroom—mosquitoes lurk. They did spray some for the mosquitoes but did not include the bathroom. So we have to buy an insect spray just so to get rid all of it.

DEFECTIVE TOILET FLUSHER!!! It did worked once, but afterwards, it’s broken!!!

All in all the only positive thing about the place is that it has a strong pressure of water. So nothing to worry of having a good bath after water activities...

I thought when i booked this hotel we will have a good or better experience.||||Eventhough we only stayed for a night, the experience is somewhat in the bad side.||||I have to mention the good first.||Location of hotel is best - near to everything we need.||Location of room - beachfront||Swimming pool is ok - cleanliness is maintained.||It's beach front alright - there are benches where you can unwind and relax.||Bar at their roofdeck. Cool! we can see the White Island from there.||||The bad side.||Room was really noisy and annoying because the waves aren't relaxing during the night. It stressing us.(but i can't complain, its nature)||Room was not air conditioned (i guess i missed this in the specifications) but a fan room. The Electric fan was dirty as well. It's ok if the windows are open, cool winds comes in and the mosquitos too. However, it is very hot when closed. The fan wasn't helping and noisy too.||The bathroom was shared by other rooms - Missed this in the specs also. But the good here is that we were the only one using at that time.||||I thought i struck a good deal because its cheap. But on second thought, its very expensive because its only a fan room. I stayed there in 2016, it was ok for the money. I just stayed again 2019, and it’s not good at all. Smallish room with a temperamental shower. A single bed sheet, very very thin. Ants about the place too. Outside the room dogs were residing there, sleeping on customer seating and on customer tables. The WiFi only works in reception area, but that was often occupied with staff eating meals there. Sunnbeds and tables and chairs are all made of concrete, impossible to move. Staff meeting very early in the morning, very noisy woke me up. The beach cafe which I loved having coffee and snacks in previous years was closed. Generally the place seems run down and needs a good clean. Very few other guests were there and no wonder. Very dissapointed to see the place go down to this level. Staff were ok but not motivated to attend to guests with one exception, don’t know her name but she was so understanding of the problems and did her best to make my stay comfortable as possible.
