A Disappointing Experience despite Good Intentions
I would like to thank SOGO Hotel Naga for accommodating my request to have our family rooms placed next to each other. This gesture was appreciated and contributed positively to the convenience of our stay. However, I regret to say that our overall experience fell far short of expectations due to several concerning issues.
• Reservation Experience: 1.) During the booking process, I made multiple long-distance calls to coordinate specific requests in advance. Unfortunately, each time I called, the staff appeared uninformed, and even the supervisor was unable—or unwilling—to accommodate simple requests, despite their potential revenue benefit for the hotel. This created unnecessary frustration and a lack of confidence in the service quality before we even arrived. 2.) It is essential that the front desk and staff demonstrate both confidence and thorough knowledge in delivering consistent, high-quality service—not only to walk-in guests but also to those arriving through Online Travel Agencies (OTAs). This ensures a seamless and professional experience for all types of guests.
• Check-in Process: 1.) Upon arrival, although my family checked in ahead of the official time, they were made to wait significantly. The delay was unexplained and inconvenient, especially given that they had arrived early in good faith. 2.) Luckily the event of my sister got cancelled due to bad weather condition. Otherwise, the lady supervisor that I have spoke through a call is seeking a payment for the make up artsist that I hired for a two hour make up service.
• Room Conditions: 1.)The condition of the rooms was highly unsatisfactory and below even basic hospitality standards: 2.) The toilet flush tank emitted an extremely unpleasant odor, and the water was black and foul-smelling—comparable to drainage water (documented with photo for reference). 3.) Another toilet flush was not working (maintenance should focus on this) bucket should be provided then (for the time being). 4.) Pillows were dirty even pillow protectors are present, compromising hygiene. Similarly, the beds were not equipped with mattress protectors (only bedsheets are presence). 5.) Despite the room being designated for two guests, basic amenities are provided for one only (except for Towel and Toothbrush). 6.) Bath towels are provided. However, hand towels are also not provided along with the bath mat. 7.) The television offered very limited channels and many were not functioning properly. Additionally, the exposed wiring around the TV and fixtures presented a potential safety hazard.
While we acknowledge the budget-friendly nature of the hotel, cleanliness, basic room amenities, and customer service are fundamental expectations for any guest, regardless of price point.
I hope this feedback is received constructively and prompts the management to implement necessary improvements in staff training, facility maintenance, and guest relations. These changes would go a long way in ensuring a more pleasant and safe stay for...
Read moreHappy Holidays to you all! ||||This time, me and my partner went back to Sogo this 25th. We were curious about their promo w/ jacuzzi @ P580 SAW which we learned from the red tarps scattered all over the city. We asked the receptionist 'Marilyn' (busy with a lot of phone calls and radio feed but didn't ignore us, and made little eye contact while talking to us, and entertained our questions, what a great employee!) about the promo, and we were asked to sit and wait for the confirmation if they have any rooms w/ jacuzzi available. ||||I was half expecting they weren't going to give us the promo price (P580) or even give us a more expensive rate (due to some reviewers complaint), but since it was a Friday at December 25th, we got a discounted price (P565), which is the same price as an Executive room. After a few minutes of waiting, the receptionist told us that there is an available room but its in the drive-in part and a guide will lead us there shortly. ||||We got room 157, Casino-themed, the designs were gorgeous and had lots of wall mirrors! When we first got to the stairs from the garage it smelled mildly of cigarette smoke but we didn't mind. Some of the light switches located at the bedhead weren't working anymore, the safe box wasn't usable, the toiletries provided were only good for one person except for the toothbrushes, there was no rug to dry your feet on after using the bathroom. The bathroom was excellent, the water pressure wasn't strong enough to quickly fill in the jacuzzi. The towel rack didn't have a heating system, so you had to make-do with the used wet towels you are provided. The bedroom had a dinette, table cabinet (with working hair blower w/ 2 levels) each with a chair. TV was large and had a DVD player below it. The bed was similar to the normal rooms (plain white, 2 flat pillows, thin bedsheet), except with a third body-size pillow. At the bedside table you can find the phone and some menu choices. ||||All in all, it was a great stay for a Christmas evening,...
Read moreWe checked in May 25, 2025 around 12:07pm
The room smells like someone stayed there and smoked cigarettes. Ambaho ng amoy ng sigarilyo. We stayed there for 6 hours because our bus was delayed and we wanted our child to be comfortable. The smell of the cigarette smoke went off after 5 to 10 mins and this is not acceptable because hotel rooms should be cleaned thoroughly. The TV's cable channel is not working and there is a prompt that they need to pay the cable connection or the connection will be shutoff. The Landline connection is also broken because you can hear the static loudly when you try calling the lobby personnel. The aircon was very noisy, I think because it was an old version of a window type. There was a time that it turned of the cooling mode and was only in fan mode. No heaters were available in room so I request for some hot water and paid 10 pesos for the water. Wifi is also not stable and I was using my Mobile data instead.
I was very disappointed with Sogo Hotel. I was expecting a higher kind of cleanliness and quality of stay but it only felt like staying in a cheap motel. Also please talk to your lobby personnel He was a slim build guy wearing glasses. He is NOT FRIENDLY AT ALL. I thought you were promoting yourself as a family...
