Hambilica Ecolodge — Hotel in San Juan

Intrusive, rude owner, thirsty plants, broken glass, dirty furniture and dusty rooms, mould right outside cottage, kitchen without stove and dogs barking almost constantly. During 1 month's stay we were bothered by the owner on more days than we had peace from her. She hassled us when HER dog entered OUR renting space and stole open coconut, after which I started putting them in the sack. Then the dog got an old one from somewhere, she pulled us again saying that young cut coconut can turn into really old one in 3 days. She made problem about my son's toys lying outside the house, demanding to keep them in the space that we are renting, because they look ugly. At the same time she never notices all the broken glass on her paths and beach. I was lectured about raising my child, refused to use the space we agreed I can use for my online work. As she refused to provide something I could use for my work, I have put my old mattress on the floor, which then was requested to remove because it is ugly (in the space no one uses or goes to, apart from her for daily inspections). She said I can not use the space because some stones are there which will damage her stairs and she will have to build them from scratch. No cooking facilities (apart from tiny rice cooker) forced me to use my small cooker with butane. No garbage disposal facilities, I was asked to put my garbage outside the cottage, which then would lie there for days, until I took it to the reception area. She would refuse to dispose my empty butane cans, bringing it back and shouting that it is the bomb. She would usually bother us in the mornings coming right through the back door which was always open, zero respect for privacy. No visitors are allowed in the cottage, my friends were stopped and interrogated about who they are, and informed they are not allowed to go inside the cottage. After moving in we had to wash all the furniture, it was dirty and dusty. The warm shower didn't really work, I changed it for my own shower set to have stable warm water. One broom provided for the cottage, veranda and outside kitchen. I bought another one which disappeared within few days. I assumed her or worker accidentally took it, when reported I was promised another one plus cover for the kitchen window to stop rats from entering. Never happened, when I asked about it she said she has no time for that and that each guest has one broom allowance. Luckily had own mop and hoover. This was really worse experience ever, over many years of travelling. At the end my child was so stressed that he always wanted all the doors closed and avoiding going outside. Nice place with a natural garden. The owner maintain the garden really nice. The rooms are in a good condition. The place is good for people who looking for a silent place, because the owner is looking that the place don't get to noisy. Edit: 1.12.18 According to the Review Rafał Baran (arround october 2018) which is pretty sure not a real review and i think he was never a guest. I think you can make your own view if you visit that place and decide by yourself which review is more accurate. In my view the owner of the resort take really care on the environment and has built up a real nice natural garden. Edit 4.3.2019 Now i was there and i was able to check the place. For me the Review of Rafal Baran isn't quiet correct. Becuase the points he complained are others than he talked about. He complain about a small wall with a fence and it's the best place for mosquito. Normally this has not water in and the wall is build to let water going. The main reason of this wall and fence is, that from the road side lot of people will throw here plastic bottle and others to that place and at least if is real heavy rain, this bottle will flow to the see. This small wall with the fence protect the sea from the plastic. Edit: 19.1.2020 I was there again and i can clearly declare the last view bad entry as fake. first of all i checked all rooms. they are clean and i a good shape as they was last year. i'ts now more than the 10th time i visit this place. the rooms are all well maintained and in a good conditiion. one point which is real unique. the Natural garden with lot of different plants. The owner personally take care of them. Also is the owner aware about the environment (which isn't always easy). Also one unique thing is, that there are also firewflies (not always to find) where she also offer small walk arround. The place is normally a quiet place which also the owner take care on it. The policy on the resort are strict but really fair. The owner loves to impress you with the knowledge of the island. I learned a lot during the talks.||||+ Natural garden with lot of birds most time||+ most time real quiet||+ Owner like to spend time to share information if you wish ||||- You can hear the road during the day, but in the night there isn't lot of traffic. so it is quiet during the night.||- every saturday there is a firedance with drums on the new neighbors place, this is 2 times for 30min.
