I have stayed here several times and I like it for its convenience and the staff are helpful and friendly. However, two significant issues on my last two stays. Both stays in September.|While on my laptop late a rather large rat decided to pay my room a vist. The rat got into the room around the aircon. This room only had foam around the aircon, easy for the rat to chew and get through. |On my last stay when I exited my room to go out there was an extremely strong smell of cigarettes and a hotel guest was sitting in the lounge at the lift lobby smoking. When I asked the staff about it, they said smoking was permitted in the public areas in front of the lifts. For me it was extremely unpleasant to wait for the lift standing in a cloud of cigarette smoke. I thought that had been banned in the Philippines. Maybe not in Tacloban. |On the plus, very low cost, very convenient, and the...
Read moreROOM - Hotel Canelsa has a bed, small cabled TV, towels and a table and chair. That's just about it. It is just clean white sheets that make you feel a little bit itchy on your skin. Also they only give you ONE pillow to get an extra one its P10 a night. ||||ELEVATOR - There is just one slow elevator going up and down. ||||FOOD - they serve breakfast to your room (since the restaurant is still under construction)||||BATHROOM - We entered the bathroom and there were no towels (called the reception and they gave us some) ||||SERVICE - The staff was really nice. They remember your name and can take your key before you go out. Breakfast should be done one night before with the reception ||||WIFI - This can only be accessed at the lobby not in the rooms.||||WOULD I SLEEP HERE AGAIN? - No. But if all other hotels were booked. I'd have no choice, then yes. at least there is a bed to...

The staff was so-so. Also, not a very peaceful place to stay, because you can easily hear people talking down the hall from our room, or the neighboring room's TV, and the downtown noises are loud and clear.||||Another thing - the promise of in-room wifi is a farce. When we stayed here, all the guests had to sit in the lobby or the sofas on each floor to get connection. A bit of hassle working with 5-8 other guests in a small area, & then having to wait your turn to plug in b/c there's only one...
