My wife and I had plans to check in on the 13th of July, but plans changed and we called the hotel and asked if we could check in on the 12th and make it a 2 night stay. They were very nice and accomodating and told us we could have the same room for the two nights. Check in was fine, the room was a nice size, had a heart made of towels on the bed highlighted with red cady - very nice touch!||Than the killing started. First I killed two beatles crawling on the floor, I didn't think much about it, just thought somebody left the doors to the patios open and they crawled in, that was followed by one or two more I was still not concerned. ||Went to dinner, came back late went to bed and my wife wakes up at 4:30 in the morning with two more crawling on her pillow - that was the last straw. Needless to say not much sleep was gotten, she sat on a chair with her feet under her, while I called around for another hotel room. In total we killed around a dozen of these creep crawlies.||We showered, got dressed made sure none of the critters were in our bags and cloths and checked out of this place. Handed the key to the girl at the front desk, who was very nice and opologetic and told us that they've been having issues due to the heat. She made copies of my credit card and assured us that we'd be getting a phone call before the end of that day. That was on July 13th, today is July 18th and I haven't heard a peep from anyone at that hotel. So much for customer service. Not an apology, not a question as to what happend, nothing at all. That is one place I'll never stay in or...
Read moreThey allowed me to check in real early but realistically hotels are empty right now. I was given a room on the street side, an immediately noticed lots of traffic so I asked to change on the garden side. Although there was no road behind me, everybody behind and beside this hotel has dogs. And somebody has some kind of birds that are very noisy starting around 5 am. Also the noise from other rooms and toilets are showers is very noticeable. I also was on the second floor but could hear the front desk staff talking too. All noises really echo here. Staff were friendly but not all can speak English. Breakfast was decent, and had a good coffee machine. Pool pretty small, and only two lounge chairs there. Hotel super clean. Less than 10 minute walk to supermarket, the castle or bus stop. Bus stops right in front of castle, and if you are not a shopper, you can easily walk around inside the castle in an hour. Not much here at all. In all honesty there really is no reason to stay overnight other than you needing a place for your luggage while you view the castle. Hop back on the bus and take the 15 minute ride to Caldas da Rainha where all your options are for...
Read moreThe hotel and the guest room was very dated and in need of renovation. It is nowhere near as nice as the photographs. There is a very small outdoor pool and small garden. We wish we had chosen a different hotel to stay in near Obidos. It was not at all relaxing. During our stay there was a group of young teenagers staying that were shouting, incessantly banging doors and running around the corridors. They were playing loud music in the garden near our window too. After complaining to the staff and management twice it was made clear that they were not prepared to confront the group or whoever was in charge of them to calm things down. Management just do not care. It appears they just want to take your money without consideration. Breakfast was very basic and the limited “hot” options were barely warm.|The only plus was that the hotel is close to the walled city and a kettle was...
