Let's start with the positives: |Perfect Location within the castle walls. |Large room for a family of 4. |Beds were super comfortable. |Price was reasonable compared to the other options.|The lady over the phone was super nice and gave us a small fridge to keep our kids snacks fresh.||Now the reason for the 1 star:||The AC in the room did not work. It was a stand AC with the hose pipe attached to the back of the unit from the outside wall. That pipe was overheating and was counter acting the effect of the AC. So the room was DREADFULLY stuffy, hot and smelled of bad humidity. The gentleman downstairs gave us a fan, but didn't even care about the malfunctioning AC or why it wasn't actually working. ||The rooms were so dusty and dingy and the 2 glasses left in the bathroom were dirty - one of them even had lip marks from a previous guest! ||In the morning during breakfast, most of the eating utensils looked like they had been used and not washed. They still had food on them and marks of being used by previous guests. Like they literally just didn't use soap or a sponge!! I had to wipe them all down with the alcohol pads I happen to always carry in my purse! The food had flies all over it. It was pretty gross. ||The worst part is that we left that place with BED BUGS. The next morning, my husband and daughter had bites all over their skin! I would never stay here again! Thank goodness it was only one night. ||The only thing that saves this hotel is it's perfect location. Waking up in the morning and being able to walk around without all the people was great. We found free parking JUST outside of the castle walls. You can't park your call within the walls, but the HUGE large parking outside was perfect. ||I would 100% choose a different space if I were to ever go to Obidos again. I'd rather pay more and not stay in such a dirty,...
Read moreNo parking at hotel! We were prepared for that so we were aware that we needed to park outside the walls of the city. It was a 10 minute walk swimming upstream through crowds with luggage. Once we were through and in the hotel all was well. If you do the research you will have the info and therefore, no surprises! We loved the location in the middle of in all. We only stayed one night and that was enough because our focus was the walled city. I wouldn’t stay in this hotel if my goal was exploring the area outside the walls. We arrived at check out time and the city was packed. We went to our rooms to settle. It was simple and clean. The only issue I found was when you opened the closet for the spare blankets there was a musty smell. Our stay was in a quad room, 4 twin beds to accommodate our family of four and it was enough room and perfect for the price. Once the tours left we were able to explore the city and walk up the side streets to the viewpoints. We wandered out of the walls to have pizza but there were plenty of other options. We stopped for ginginha shots and a treat and went to bed early since the village was quiet. It wasn’t fancy or 5 star. I gave 4 stars not because it was a 4 star hotel, but because the basic accommodations with a simple breakfast and friendly staff met my...
Read moreWe just ended our short trip in Portugal, this is our honest review (2 adults + 1 young child) - April 2025:
We spent 1 night here and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is very characteristic and it takes you back straight to the medieval age. The receptionist was super friendly and helpful with lots of infos provided, and both the check-in and check-out processes were smooth and efficient. The breakfast is ok, just few items but we enjoyed it (the only thing I hated were the cold lights in the breakfast room, please please please replace them with some warm lights!!)
It’s located on the main street and it’s very picturesque. There’s a lively atmosphere during the day with tourists coming and going from the castle, and many shops around selling souvenirs and hand crafted items.
The location is also extremely convenient—just a 5 minute walk to castle and 8 minutes to the main entrance of the village, Obidos is very small by the way. There are several nearby restaurants.
The only positive note: the main parking is 10 min walking, so it’s very difficult to carry trolleys or big luggages, especially when the main street is crowded, it’s not hotel fault but it can be a bit challenging!
Overall I definitely...
