Casa de Hospedes Boa Noite — Hotel in Lisbon

I traveled across Europe for a month and this is possibly the only place I am reviewing that has got a Poor rating. The guest house is 10 minutes walk from the Intendente metro station so location wise it is maybe not in the best area but close to a metro. Unfortunately the guest house itself seemed really old and dated. The moment you walk in you get a musty smell which is awful. I stayed in a room with an ensuite bathroom. Although the room was clean it didn't feel like it because of the musty smell. The owners were quite friendly and helpful but they really need to renovate the place. I was initially booked to stay for 5 nights but reduced it to two because I could not bear to stay here. The wifi was not great either and kept dropping off.I would never stay in this place...

terrible room… with no windows, small and uncomfortable beds and pillows, feels dirty and depressing to be in.. the bathroom looks dirty and there are many very sketchy-looking electric circuits that don’t look safe at all. Everything looks like it’s about to fall apart at any point, for example the wardrobe, the floor which is covered in a parquet-looking plastic tissue, which is broken and is poorly attached, and the ceiling, with those old-fashioned vintage decorations, which are nice, but are not attached properly and probably it’s only a matter of time until they detach and fall down, maybe while somebody...

The only thing that is true in the negative reviews is that the place need a renovation. All the rest is unfair: the place is very clean and tidy, the staff is amazing, especially the night porter. 24h reception, they upgrade us to a bigger en-suite (no toilet)room with terrace without asking.
