Lidl — Local services in Lisbon

I am writing to share a concern regarding a recent experience at your Lidl store in Intendente, Lisbon.

As a regular customer who lives nearby and frequently shops at this location, I value the convenience and range of products you offer. However, during my recent visit after work, I had an unpleasant interaction that I believe deserves your attention.

While shopping, I picked up a jar of peanut butter — which was already placed in my cart for purchase — and mistakenly opened the lid. I fully understand that store policy does not permit customers to open sealed food items before checkout, and I intended to buy the product regardless.

However, what concerned me was the way the situation was handled. A security guard approached me and spoke in a tone that was unnecessarily stern and intimidating. While I understand that he was doing his job, I strongly believe that such matters should ideally be handled by store staff in a polite and customer-friendly manner — especially when it is clear there is no malicious intent.

Customer service is the heart of retail, and the manner in which policies are communicated can either retain or drive away loyal shoppers. A respectful, informative tone goes a long way in building trust and maintaining your reputation.

This is not a complaint about the rule, but rather about how it was communicated. I kindly request that your security staff receive basic training in customer interaction — particularly when addressing non-threatening situations. A calm and courteous approach would avoid embarrassing your regular customers and preserve the positive shopping experience Lidl is known for.

Finally, a Lidl in the middle of town. In arrois, on the old market site (Mercado do Forno do Tijolo), it is very conveniently located if you are on foot in this part of town. Although the shop is quite small and windowless, you will find everything you need there. All the articles that are normally offered at LIDL are also available here. It's very convenient that there are other shops in the market area. There are fruit and vegetables, meat and fish and a bakery. Furthermore you can have your breakfast coffee in the Snack Bar Leandro's before you go in or take a break there...

Un supermercado más de la cadena Lidl. Como todos de su cadena tiene precios muy competitivos y además desde hace un tiempo que utilizando su aplicación puedes aceder a más descuentos. En este supermercado en concreto le doy una reseña de apenas 3 estrellas por las siguientes razones:

1. No siendo un establecimiento grande, por políticas internas de la empresa, decidieron retirar la parte de bazar, cosa que me disgusta. Cada semana hay promociones en productos de bazar y si hay algo que me interese tengo que desplazarme a otro de dimensiones mayores de forma a poder comprar. Creo que con algo de reorganización en la tienda se conseguiría volver a tener este bazar. En concreto hay una zona en este local de productos en promoción (no bazar) que siempre se encuentra tan desordenada que más parece un trastero.
2. También por decisiones internas de Lidl, y igualmente por ser un súper de menores dimensiones, decidieron no tener toda la variedad de productos. Pienso que es una muy mala decisión. Además de no tener las promociones semanales de bazar también recortan en productos.
3. Este súper tiene muchas visitas de gente que compra para revender. Esto sucede a diário. Con pocas cajas y poco personal para atenderlas, las colas son una constante. ¿No sería más aceptable que abrieran una caja exclusiva para este tipo de clientes para no prejudicar al comprador normal y corriente?
4. Por último e infelizmente en este súper suelen colocar trabajando gente muy mal educada. Quizás no sería mal pensado dar un poco de formación a sus empleados. Por lo demás tiene aparcamiento, aunque reducido, carritos de compra grandes a la entrada (fuera del súper) y por moneda y carritos de compra más pequeños ya dentro de la tienda. Tiene...
