Extremely disappointing experience – flea infestation, poor management response I stayed at Lisbon City Hotel from July 9–14 and had a terrible experience due to a flea infestation in my room (304). I was bitten multiple times, developed hives and even got a fever one night. I showed photo evidence of the bugs in the bed and the bites on my skin, but the manager questioned my version and even tried to blame me for the situation, instead of taking responsibility. Even after they changed the sheets, I continued to get bitten. Only after being moved to a different room (which was not the one I paid for and lacked a balcony) did the bites stop — proving the fleas were in their room, not brought by me. Their solution? A free breakfast. For a health hazard that ruined days of my holiday in Portugal. Avoid this hotel if you value cleanliness, accountability, or even basic hospitality. I’ve since filed a complaint with the Portuguese health and tourism authorities.

Everybody be careful in this hotel staff is the thieves. In the night 30-31 March I stay in hotel at 12:00 I check out and call them after 1 hour to ask about my iPhone change which I forgot in the room. That promos me to check and call back. Of course they never call me . Next day I call and stuff answer that they change shift and do not have information. I call again and got the answer that they didn’t see my charge. I’m sure I left my charge in the room and call to hotel from train ( couldn’t come and take) The stuff very rude and unrespectable. I call them next day to ask from the other shift but they safe my number and never answer my calls wherever I call or they pick up phone and without say hi or alo hang up the phone. Do not recommend this place. There is a lot much better hotels around without thieves.

We stayed at the hotel and were pleasantly surprised with our hospitality. The front counter staff went out of their way to ensure we got the very best from Lisbon. There is a grocery store not far and we bought a salad and a bottle of wine and went up to the roof top terrace. It was pleasant and lovely to see the sites from the top. If you have questions the front desk staff are pleasant and helpful. Our flights were later in the day and the hotel has a locked luggage room to store bags so you can get around and not worry about your things, Easy access to and from the airport and close to downtown make it a great place to stay. Rooms adequate, clean, and comfortable bed. Fridge and tea/coffee in the rooms.

The ugliest place ever in the whole Portugal!!! Well... In course of our 2-week-tour around Portugal we stayed with six hotels incl. this one (it's reasonable to mention them all here to be correct and comparative - Lisboa Legendary Suites, Stay Faro, Dom Dinis Marvao, Stay Coimbra and Porto Coliseum and final point before flying away- this Lisbon City Hotel - all of them are less or more with the same rates and within the same categories) and therefore I could clearly and objectively state the benefits and disadvantages of each one visited by us. However, this place just achieved the lowest rating of all possible since it was the ugliest living lodgement ever met on our route...

Trying to mention this hotel's strong points we could define only:

  1. space dedicated to have breakfast (you are to be ready in advance that in Portugal in 95% of all hotels the eating area is very-very small indeed :( - it's like in beautiful family hotels in Prague with one clear difference... - there, the number of rooms could be totally just 6-10; and in Portugal - 4-5-fold of that); here, at least, the whole basement is suited for these purposes;
  2. Wi-Fi functions less or more reliably. And factually the list of its benefits is exhaustive; all the rest concerning this "hotel"... is awful...just awful....

The ugliest moments in the whole country you could find just in one place:

  1. Its location... Would you like to stay just 15 meters!!! from a place where there is a point for feeding all degraded persons in the whole Lisbon?! It's not a joke or fantasy - it's just a matter of fact. Thus, welcome to this "hotel" in such a case... It's completely surrounded by this salvation points (look also across the street, to the left side of the square in front of the hotel) and, therefore, the concentration of beggars, alcoholics and illegal migrants is tremendous and frightening.
  2. The cleanness of common spaces & corridors is so arguable as if it were never washed completely.
  3. The carpeting and floor-mates are so old and dirty as if you were travelling through years... maybe, 10-15 years ago... The towels were not white (don't even dream of that) but firmly grey and so thin that seemed to signal to operations team many years!!! ago - it's high time to change us... The bathroom of ours was with some oiled black stains?! It was so astonishing whether anyone had factually seen them before our check-in. Bedclothes... well, hope, at least, that huge yellow stain was not provoked by something except... tea... :)
  4. There is only ONE elevator and every time you try to use it - just wait... and wait...
  5. The personnel is so lazy that instead of settling any practical issue they prefer to repeat a one-time learned text of their instructions...
  6. And, finally, it was the unique place in Portugal where (despite all information provided in course of booking) they TWICE tried to receive our money before our arrival... even months in advance...

And finishing your two-week tour (if you have the same opportunity as we to live, e.g., in Lisboa Legendary Suites, Dom Dinis Marvao & Porto Coliseum) you are to understand that at the same rates and even lower you would be able to really enjoy comfort, service and white towels and not just factually to wait for your flight and for your money at some shelter...

STRONGLY recommended to avoid...

We stayed at this hotel from 26th - 29th Sept 2023. We arrived at 14.20 which was 40 minutes early it we was allowed to check in early. The room was a double room with a small balcony overlooking main street. It had 2 single beds a bathroom with small corner shower. The main living room with beds had a TV with HDMI and a space to hang clothes with about 8 hangers. There was a safe in the room which was free as was the WiFi which had amazing speeds of 335 Meg download and 128 upload ( wow ). ||Breakfast was average I would say. Scrambled eggs, hot dog sausages and tomatoes. There was fruit, Yoghurt and pastries and orange juice, tropical juice and apple juice. The coffee was delicious.|The staff at the hotel overall was nice albeit we had one strange encounter where a member of staff knocked on our door and asked if he could check the safe. My wife said she had just got out of the shower and asked if he could call back in 10 minutes but was told no he needed access now. My wife opened the door wrapped in a towel and a male member of staff popped his head round the door and gave a quick glance at the safe and left without actually coming in. We both found this strange. ||Location was not to bad it took us about 20 minutes to walk into Rossio Square along the busy main road. The travel time to and from the airport by Uber was about 20 - 25 minutes due to heavy traffic. ||Overall we would stay here again| Value for money was good for...

Good hotel for solo travellers From the moment I arrived, I was greeted warmly by the staff, who were incredibly professional, courteous, and always ready to assist. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, setting the tone for a relaxing stay.The room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and impeccably clean. The bed was extremely comfortable, with high-quality linens that ensured a restful sleep. I especially appreciated the little details—soft bathrobes, complimentary refreshments, and a well-stocked minibar. The housekeeping team did an excellent job maintaining the room throughout my stay, always ensuring it was spotless and well-organized.One of the highlights of my stay was the hotel’s amenities. The swimming pool was pristine, offering a perfect spot to unwind, while the fitness center was well-equipped with modern machines. The spa services were top-notch, providing a truly rejuvenating experience. The hotel’s restaurants also exceeded my expectations, serving delicious meals with a great variety of options. Breakfast was a delightful spread of fresh pastries, fruits, and hot dishes, catering to different dietary preferences.The location was ideal, conveniently situated near key attractions and transportation hubs. Whether exploring the city or simply relaxing at the hotel, I always felt at ease. The staff’s attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction truly set this...
