I lived there for many, many years. It was my oldest child playground, we used to go there with our snacks, climb on the tree to talk and see the view. I always liked that the big tree looks like a big pregnant woman belly and that the chapel next door is the one we use to sit, when pregnant, to ask for a nice labour.
Since 2013/2014 life there became a nightmare. We would wake up 4/5 times per night with people screaming loud music, bottles and other objects being thrown at our windows or the patios downstairs, once even a gas bottle ended up in the neighbours patio. Tourism made our life, at our house, impossible. Our child would wake up screaming in fear, it became impossible to open the windows in summer, impossible to feel the breeze or live without an air conditioned - do you know not everyone in Portugal can afford to buy and maintain an AC? Please be gentle when visiting other people's houses. Out neighbourhood, our sidewalks, gardens and lookouts are an important part of our houses, no child can grow inside 4 walls, we need safe public spaces and ailments nights in order to exist.
If you are a musician, please, lower the volume, you will not receive more money because you are louder, or your speakers are better. I miss those days when solitary guitar player would practice at São Gens. People would open the windows to listen to it, maybe a fado singer would pass doing errands and sing along ... Or when there was a calm MPB being played, just the violão, no extra noise, not much people ... Sometimes I was so emotional about the beauty of it.
Please everyone, we all want the best Lisbon as to offer, be kind, be calm, be silent, enjoy the sunset, yes, it is delightfully and let the residents enjoy their simple life's too
If you can, buy something in small Portuguese shop. A hand soap? A cookie? Wathever you can use here or at home... Our shops are all closing down to give place to the same shops you can find all over the world. Sometimes i'm a Graça, need something as simple as a clip for a curtain and can only find crêperies, kebabs etc.... look inside each shop, stop in the oldest ones and buy something, be nice to the shop owners, smile, say you like their shop, make someone's life better..you will...

Upon reaching the top, I was greeted with a breathtaking view of the city. The vista spans across the Tagus River, the sprawling cityscape, and iconic landmarks like the São Jorge Castle and the Ponte 25 de Abril. Watching the sunset from this vantage point was a highlight, as the city bathed in golden hues, creating a picturesque and serene atmosphere.
The viewpoint itself is well-maintained and offers plenty of space to sit and take in the scenery. There is a charming chapel, Nossa Senhora do Monte, nearby, adding a touch of history and spirituality to the site. The surrounding garden area is a lovely place to relax, with benches and shade from the trees, making it a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the view.
Despite its popularity, Miradouro da Senhora do Monte retains a tranquil and peaceful vibe, perhaps due to its location being slightly off the main tourist trail. It’s an excellent spot for photographers and anyone looking to capture the beauty of Lisbon from above.
I would highly recommend bringing a picnic or some snacks to fully enjoy the experience. There are also a few nearby cafes and kiosks where you can grab a drink or a bite to eat while soaking in the view.
