On my recent trip to Portugal, I had the pleasure of visiting the stunning viewpoint of Monte Agudo. Nestled in the heart of the Serra de Monchique mountain range, this viewpoint offered breathtaking panoramic views of the entire Algarve region. To get to Monte Agudo, I had to drive up steep, winding roads that were not for the faint of heart. But the effort was well worth it once I arrived and saw the incredible views that stretched out before me. From the top of Monte Agudo, I could see for miles and miles in every direction, with the Atlantic Ocean sparkling in the distance. The viewpoint itself is relatively small, but it's perched on the edge of a sheer cliff, so you feel as though you're suspended in midair. There's a simple stone bench where visitors can sit and take in the views, but I found myself wandering around and exploring the different angles and vantage points to get the best possible view. One of my favorite things about Monte Agudo was the sense of peacefulness and tranquility that permeated the air. Despite the fact that there were a few other visitors around, everyone seemed to be lost in their own thoughts and content to just stand and appreciate the beauty of the natural surroundings. If you're ever in the Algarve region of Portugal, I highly recommend making the trek up to Monte Agudo. Be sure to bring your camera, as the views are some of the most stunning I've ever seen.

Nice viewpoint/ place to checkt out if you are staying nearby. I went there on a friday evening to check out the view with two friends I made at my hostel nearby and we were surprised by the amount of people being there. The little path up there can be overlooked so definitely check your maps when you try to get there. As I said, there were a lot of people just enjoying the warmer days, drinking and just chatting with friends or other people. There was also a DJ playing some music and a few people dancing. It definitely seems more like a local spot, a place to meet up with your friends on the weekends. Up there, there is also a little café/ kiosk with some food and drinks. They also offer some places to sit but since there were a lot of people all of them were occupied. Except that people were sitting on the grass or on top the lower walls. Sadly it was quite dirty, there was a lot of rubbish, especially empty bottles (that were flying around because it was getting windy) and there were a few people that seemed a bit sketchy. The place is quite different to the other places/ miradouros in Lisbon. The spot itself, the people and the atmosphere there reminded me a lot of Berlin. Since the miradouro is not so close to the center I wouldn’t recommend going there, there are definitely some nicer spots closer to the center but if you are staying nearby why not check it out.

It's really difficult to find. Google maps suggests to take it through buildings and CityMapper guides you to some stairs that lead to a closed gate. We decided to circle it and we finally found the entrance on Rua Heliodoro Salgado. We kind of missed the sunset because of this.. Once up, the view is very nice and there are mainly locals chatting, walking their dogs or playing music. It has a very chill vibe. Everyone was asked to leave around 8 by the security guard, not sure why as we don't speak Portuguese.
