I stayed here for about a week during my visit to the country. Let me first start off by saying the decor inside the common areas is nice. If I’m correct, this hotel isn’t even a year old. I booked my stay here almost a year before my trip, and I was excited to stay here. Unfortunately, I encountered some issues not just during check in, but also during my stay, that doesn’t make staying here worth it to me in the future. There’s not many food options close by. There are food options near, but you will need to do some walking to get there.
A white lady with brown curly hair, a little above shoulder length, checked me in. No one else was in line, but she was chatting with a coworker while I was standing there for a few minutes before helping me. Because of my Hyatt status, I was helped at the express lane. During check-in, she verify some information and then asked me for my card. She didn’t explain the charges. She didn’t explain about breakfast being a part of my stay, and where to go for breakfast. Nothing was explained and because of that, housekeeping came into my room while I was out when I did not want them to. I wasn’t offered an upgrade that I was eligible for either. I paid, and I was handed my key. I booked a two twin room. Upon going to the room, I noticed it was just one bed. I go back down to let her know this. At this point, I was tired after my over 12 hour flight. I just wanted to take a shower and lay down and relax. I asked her to be assigned to another room a few times. Instead, she ignored that request and said somebody will go up there and separate the beds. I go back up to the room and I wait in the bathroom almost 30 or so minutes while two people separate the beds and change out the sheets. In my opinion, this was ridiculous when she could have just put me in another room that was already prepared.
For the hotel to be less than a year old, I noticed in my room that there was damage to some of the furniture and stains on the bedframe. I also noticed stains on the carpet as well. The wood on the door was also checked in broken. The best part of the room was the shower. The water pressure was really good. During my stay, the electricity went off, which was really inconvenient at the time. There was a couple times where I would call down to the front desk and no one would answer or someone would answer, take my request and never show up at the door.
The food at the hotel wasn’t really anything special. The breakfast buffet was included in my stay, and it was just OK. I definitely recommend going out on the town and utilizing their breakfast options instead if you can. Room service is a charge of seven dollars. I only ordered room service one time. The one time that I did order it, I forgot to add on a couple more drinks so 30 minutes later I called to add on two more bottles of soda. It was brought up to me, but I was charged another seven dollars Just for that.
I don’t consider this hotel to be kid friendly. There is a pool at this hotel, but it cost money to use it (around 30 Euros) and you have to be 16-year-old and up to use it. I recommend this hotel for the older crowd or people in town for business. After exploring the city more, I see that there are better options for hotel accommodations closer to the attractions and restaurants.
I understand this is a new hotel, but that has nothing to do with the lack of hospitality. Great customer service is a part of the experience. I also noticed I was charged a few more dollars than what my receipt stated. I personally wouldn’t stay here again. I would prefer somewhere closer to city center. The Uber and Bolt rides are affordable, but of course it will add up and depending on the day, you will be stuck in traffic for a long time. There is public transportation, but it is usually very full and will make some rides uncomfortable. After work hours, it can get...
Read moreWe spent a wonderful week in January (2023) at the Hyatt Regency Lisbon celebrating my 40th birthday. The team at the Hyatt Regency Lisbon did a fantastic job of making all of (a family of 4, including my husband, daughter and mother) feel so welcomed and comfortable. We arrived at the hotel after an exhausting overnight flight, and Liliana greeted us. She was able to secure a room for us quickly and made us feel so welcome. She was kind, professional, and very prompt. She and the staff also went out of the way to make the day of my birthday feel special and helped make restaurant reservations for us.
The hotel room (one bedroom suite) was spacious and very clean. It had a kitchen with cooking pots, pans and utensils fully stocked. It also included a dishwasher, and a clothes washer/dryer combo, which we utilized once during the stay. We loved the balcony and being able to overlook the garden. Cleaning staff was fantastic - it was so nice to come back to fresh bottles of water (I am a Hyatt Discoverist member), and clean cups and dishes in the dishwasher.
The bathroom was clean and absolutely beautiful. I appreciated the mirror with the built-in clock. The walk-in shower with the two shower heads had great pressure and were fantastic after a long flight.
We also used the baby crib, which the staff brought up for us. It was quite long and able to fit our 39" daughter very comfortably, with room to spare.
I had read in previous reviews that there was construction, but we didn't notice any noise or construction happening during our stay (in January 2023). It was peaceful and the only noise came from the train in the distance, which was hardly noticeable. Even with the hotel's location being close to a hospital, there was no ambulances or other sounds from the hospital.
Speaking of which, the hotel is quite conveniently located by the Egas Moniz hospital in Belem, which meant that it is also right next to a bus stop (Egas Moniz bus stop), which made it very easy to travel westwards towards Belem (to see the tower, the Jeronimo tower, and Pateis de Belem), as well as eastwards, to all the sights in the main sections of Lisbon. We used the M15 bus often, and it was so nice that the bus stop was right in front of the hotel. It was easy to take the M15 bus directly to the Time Out Market as well.
The pool is now in operating order, but is only available for those 18 years old and up. Access to the pool, saunas, jacuzzi and experiential showers is $30 (for hotel guests) and the one-day pass can be used all day, with repeat visits. My mother and I were able to take advantage of this, and highly recommend it. It was a beautiful space, and very clean.
On the first day, we were also able to visit Zest, the juice bar in the hotel garden. They serve a variety of breakfast foods (oatmeal, pancakes, avocado toast, and juices). Our dishes were all beautifully plated and delicious. My daughter was really happy with her almond butter pancakes and berries.
A big thank you to Liliana and the entire staff for making this birthday celebration feel so special. I will always remember this trip - and hope to be back in...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE IF PLANNING A WEDDING OR EVENT. The staff here is completely inept and it starts at the top with the General Manager.
My wife and I were traveled from New York to Lisbon to get married in June of 2024, and decided to book a room block at this hotel in November of 2023. We booked 5 nights from Wednesday - Sunday. On Wednesday, we checked in with some family members with no issue. On Thursday, our remaining family members arrived (which included my wife's grandmother), and they were told by hotel staff that unfortunately because of an IT issue, there were no rooms available. The solution the general manager came up with, was to book them a room at another hotel located 20 minutes away. They assured us they "tried the breakfast" the day before and that it met their standards. SO, not only did they somehow have an "IT" issue and therefore no rooms available, they also KNEW about rooms for our block not being available when we checked in, but failed to make any mention to us.
This is the poorest communication I've ever experienced in any capacity. It is a classic example of not knowing what to do and hoping the problem just goes away vs. actually dealing with any issues and being up front about the communication.
Beyond all of this, when we discussed the issue with management, they were defensive and had the audacity to say that they were still delivering on the agreement we signed since we paid for a hotel room and that was what we were given. Additionally, my wife is the one who came up with a solution, which was to merge some of our family members rooms together (which I guess somehow did not occur to them).
I think the worst part, is that we discovered they chose to axe the rooms we had in our block because another group who was there for business was "giving them a hard time" about the hotel being overbooked. So they decided to ruin our wedding because they didn't want to deal with the complaints of another group. It's some of the most disrespectful treatment I've received and it is safe to say I will not be staying at any Hyatt property anytime soon.
I would HIGHLY recommend you stay at the Emerald House by Hilton, which is not only a better location, but has a wonderful staff who will actually tell you if there is an issue with your reservation (which they probably wouldn't have in the first place because their General Manager is not a buffoon).
Oh and the room we had was a bridal suite and there was water damage in the bathroom where water was seeping through the floor panels. It's only a matter of time before this hotel collapses because it's shoddily made...
