HIT OR MISS? Fysh makes its intentions clear from the name — seafood is the star. The real discovery, however, is the setting, service, and playful creativity that make this riverside spot worth a visit. Located along the Tejo on Avenida Brasília, in Belém, the restaurant’s unassuming exterior hides a surprisingly vibrant interior and a large, two-level charming courtyard perfect for dining, sipping, or catching up with friends. Each inside table even features its own fishbowl with live fish gently gliding about — a whimsical touch. The menu lacks detail of what’s to come, with beautifully plated salads, seafood platters, and fresh accompaniments. My lobster salad (€26) was perfectly dressed, served on a crisp wedge of endive. Craig’s grilled lulas (€28), however, was less successful — a large, somewhat tough specimen with disappointingly little flavor. Chilled glasses of Monte Amarolo provided welcome refreshment on a very warm and sunny afternoon, and the atmosphere was a delight: guests lounging by the river, chatting in booths, and lingering for hours.
