Really enjoyed the stay at MYBEDINPICO. Best to think of it slightly as a bed and breakfast or boutique hotel, where they’re just there to help get you situated. They do offer daily cleaning if desired and will help you with your luggage, and based on the room, may offer you a welcoming care package. The staff is very communicative and helpful. That being said, those with a slightly more self-sufficient attitude would probably be more appreciative of this type of accommodation.
The rooms are centrally located in the heart of Madalena, and offer beautiful window glimpses into the surrounding area and city. Others didn’t really mention the view, but the room on the top floor allowed me to see out into the town square and off into the distance viewing Faial Island, and the two towering rock formations Ilhéu Deitado and Ilhéu em Pé. When using the main stairwell up to your room, take note of the windows, as you’ll find a wonderfully framed view of Mt. Pico (when it’s not covered in clouds).
Just below the rooms is an amazing restaurant, O Cinco, which offers many Azorean flavors and dishes. Because the restaurant is associated with Mybedinpico they do their best to treat you with priority. Of course plan in advance by requesting reservations. But when I asked to return a second night (because the food was that good) they said they’d work to accommodate the request. And they did.
Ample parking is located nearby in a dirt/paved lot, and there is a grocery store a slight walk away.
Do keep in mind that the rooms are very much in the midst of Madalena, and so it does mean you’ll hear sounds of the city. For me that meant hearing church bells, neighborly conversations and commotions, cars, and even a live DJ set partying into the late hours of the night (a noise app was enough to help me sleep through it). None of this bothered me personally, just added more to the charm, but for others it might be a concern.
All in all, Mybedinpico was a comfortable and welcoming stay while in Pico Island. Thank you again, and look forward to...
Read moreWe could not have asked for a better place to stay in Pico! We were on the very top floor — be aware there are stairs, so carrying luggage up and down can be a bit of a workout.||We had requested the room with the washing machine, which was perfect for us as we were traveling light throughout the islands. There’s no dryer, but it was manageable. The linens, towels, and bathrobes were of luxury quality and beautifully presented on our double bed. There’s also a lovely seating area where you can relax, read a book, or simply enjoy the view.||The kitchen is fully equipped. We enjoyed our morning coffee inside before heading out to a nearby bakery for breakfast. There are also two local supermarkets with great cafeterias serving clean, local food at very reasonable prices.||The living area has a good-quality TV with access to many American shows as well as local channels. The bathroom was modern, with a powerful hair dryer (better than most hotels!). When we needed extra towels, it was no problem. Housekeeping is done every two days, though we opted out.||Deborah was a super host — incredibly accommodating and kind. She even allowed us a late checkout on Sunday, which we were beyond grateful for.||Don’t miss the nearby local wine-tasting spots within walking distance, natural pools, scenic lookout bar, and the wine museum — all worth visiting! Whether you drive around the island or hire a guide, you’ll discover unbelievable views and hidden gems.||A side note: there’s a great restaurant downstairs where we ate twice (and others nearby). The host can recommend local eateries. Lastly, if you’re catching a ferry, double-check the location and schedule. Ours was changed from São Roque to Madalena due to weather, and with no taxis available, we were at the mercy of anyone who could drive us there.||Overall, an excellent stay — comfortable, well-appointed, and hosted by someone who truly cares...
Read moreThis is a boutique hotel in the center of Medeiros, on the western end of Pico Island Azores. The entire hotel has just undergone a complete renovation. Each room is individually themed. First impressions are how clean everything is. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom is modern, with a stand-up shower. Bring your220/110 converter for recharging your electronics. Coffee service is shared in each hallway. Expect European style coffee. No Starbucks here. Awesome resteraunt downstairs, but make reservations for dinner. Weather in October is humid and 23c. Finding the hotel is a challenge, especially at night. The entrance is beside the resteraunt downstairs and hard to notice with all the patrons milling around. Big sign in front. Nowhere to drop luggage off. You have to block street to do that. An awesome clerk will meet you at the door, to check in. It's imperative that you contact the hotel when you arrive at Pico Airport. We rented a car. I suggest you do not. There's very little parking nearby. It's a very small, European style town, with extremely narrow streets and aggressive local drivers. All rentals here are standard shift. Everything you need is walking distance from the hotel. Take advantage of all the tours available. There's another island a short boat ride across the channel.|Highly recommend this hotel if you enjoy a smaller hotel,...
