Esplanada Dark — Restaurant in Madalena

Asked for a tuna salad and when the food came, it was a tuna steak with lettuce and tomato on the side. I asked the waiter if that was the tuna salad and he said yes. Doubted, but he had just confirmed. Of course, when the bill came, I was charged for the tuna steak - 21,50€. Called the guy, explained the issue and he kept saying that it was a tuna salad; in fact, it was the special tuna salad (not on the menu, never offered to me and I never ordered it). When I asked for the difference between my dish and the tuna dish listed on the menu board, which costs 19,50€, the guy said that one was different ‘cause it came with salad and potatoes. When I pointed out that it comes with extra potatoes when compared to mine for 2€ less, which makes no sense, he just stared back at me, wordless. I only don't give 1 star because the food was good, but the attitude is really wrong, even when confronted with the facts, and it's even worse when you try to forcefully deceive me. I had seen this restaurant as it was beside our hotel, and since I wanted something simple as a break from more upscale restaurant during my trip, I decided to try it after an ex-pat who works at another restaurant(!) recommended it to me. The chef is Brazilian, and she will make you pretty much anything you desire. I had the Brazilian steak, with pomme frittes, rice, and grilled veggies. Best food of my entire stay - great spicing and flavor profile. Good drink options. Oh my goodness, the most wonderful find on the island that we call “Home”! Can’t give enough praise of the food, staff and owners Lilla and her Mom! Lilla loves to cook and creatively it shows with the vast amount of heart she puts into her preperations!!!
