We stayed for 2 nights here, and let me tell you, it was the worst accommodation I've ever stayed in. I've stayed in nicer hostels. Management is nowhere to be found because it's a family run place and they only keep a few hours during the day and are gone after 5pm.||I'll start with the good: friendly check in/check out. We muddled through the language barrier and everything was fine with that. We had to prepay through expedia which is fine because we were able to just leave after we dropped off the keys. She has some english-portugese phrasebooks to help at the front desk. The location is good too.||The bad: I was under the impression that the rooms were newer, or at least renovated. Nope. We were stuck in the old part, with hand me down furniture and absolutely no air circulation. Normally I wouldn't be bothered by an uncomfortable double bed and a grimey shag rug, but as long as it had a fan or A/C. Nope! Even opening the windows at night did nothing, the wind stopped at night and it was stifling. Every waking moment we didn't want to be in there. The wifi didn't even work in our room, we had to go and sit at the bottom of the steps near the door to use it! I wish we would have spent our money someplace else, there were literally dozens of other rooms and hotels all over this town we could have stayed at. If you're going to stay here, make sure it is the apts and not the rooms. The only time these would be decent is for a single traveler just looking to crash one night in the winter (cooler) for a sorta cheap price. Even 60 euros a night felt like I overpaid for this place....
Read moreThe accommodation is located near the city beaches and only a few hundred meter away from the very center of V.N. de Milfontes. Once you have arrived you don't need a car any more, but you can use one if you like to visit some other beaches, what I do strongly recommend. The apartements are quite spacious, upstairs with nice balconies. I always love to sit there in the evening-shadow and read some books. The kitchens are well equipped with cooking facilities and dishes etc., a big enough fridge keeps the necessary stuff cool. If you are not the cooking type you'll find enough restaurants in easy walking distance. I like to eat typically portuguese lunches in the "restaurant" two houses to the right from Patios da Vila. Ask for the dish of the day.|Despite it's family-friendliness Patios da Vila is a quiet place, the staff is more than kind and the reception is multilingual, even german-speaking. The owner, Hugo, is a really nice guy. In the recent 12 years I staid there almost 10 times, with my wife or alone. I sincerely hope that this year wasn't...
Read moreMy experience only concerns booking and post- sale experience as I couldn't reach the facility - still, it was a quasi-nightmare for the total lack of attention to the customer from the facility and booking.com alike.||I had booked a two-days stay back in May (Portugal was green and Covid looked well under control - just got my second jab), then everything went wrong - Easyjet cancelled our flight, Portugal went red and it was impossible to leave Lisbon if we reprogrammed flights to reach the place.||I cancelled my reservation explaining the issues and asked if a partial refund was possible - Booking and the facility started a ping-pong blaming each other and, besides not refunding anything, they refused to cancel my reservation - I got plenty of messages saying the time for mandatorily showing up at the property, a no-show notification and further...
