Balealspot — Hotel in Peniche

Have just stayed at this small but beautifully formed hotel. The bedding was fresh, clean & pretty, which was refreshing. The room was nice & large & very clean The room was cleaned daily but it could be quite late in the day. The owners wife & their helper were always cheerful & pleasant. |Breakfast was a great experience, which we looked forward to each day. Kingsley was helpful & friendly. There was plenty of choice, some people had said it was boring but what do you want from a breakfast. They provided: Freshly squeezed orange juice, 2 x bolos, selection of 2 or 3 meats, cheese. Cereals, toasted buns, selection of jams, marmalades, Nutella, chocolate or vanilla cake & a basket of seasonal fruit. The espresso & Americano he made for us were the very best. Then you can order omelettes or eggs how you want them for a small charge. What do people want a British fry up? You're in Portugal!|Luis was always pleasant & passed the time of day with us. Prior to our visit we needed to contact the hotel regarding beach towels (which they provided) & another matter & it was always answered efficiently & quickly.|People have mentioned the shower cubicle, admittedly it's not that big & the doors are a little stiff but nothing you can't get around with a little bit of common sense. The bathroom is finished to a good standard so it's a shame they hadn't spent a little more on the cubicle. But it certainly didn't spoil the holiday.|We missed not having tea & coffee available but took our own travel kettle etc. A small fridge would be nice to store cold drinks/milk in it. There are facilities available for surf equipment |The cost was €50 per night which was amazing value for such lovely accommodations.|Would we go back? In a heart beat. A very enjoyable stay. Hotel is in a good spot with an easy walk to the beach. Check in was a little tricky as we arrived at around 14:30 with no one around and no bell or buzzer to call for assistance. I heard the cleaners working upstairs so went up and asked for Reception help. The room wasn't quite ready so we waited for it to be finished. Room itself was lovely and fresh and very clean. We were a little concerned initially as we overlooked a relatively busy road but once the balcony doors were closed it was very quiet. Owner/Manager was friendly and spoke good English.||||Breakfast was adequate, meat and cheese with bread along with cereals and croissants - fresh orange juice was delicious||||If I had any minor complaints it would be 1) install a buzzer/bell for reception, 2) we had no glasses in the room for water etc. and also only mirror was placed way to high up for any one...

This is the worst experience I have ever had with any hotel. We booked 5 days stay. When we arrived we discovered there were hairs on the sheet and stained pillows as well as a horrible smell in the room. I am really not a difficult guest.

We decided to cancel our stay for our own health reasons. However when we tried to communicate with the hotel owners they behaved extremely rudely and refused to refund us any costs despite we are initially planned to stay for 5 nights.
