We spent ages choosing this Portimao guest house, but our expectations of it were not met. It's an odd concept, offering a room in an unstaffed house, that doesn't offer breakfast but also doesn't offer any catering facilities?? We booked a "Superior Triple room with balcony & city view". What we actually got was a clean, well-decorated double-bed room, sparsely furnished with one chair, no table to sit at. The balcony was a tiny Juliet balcony overlooking a narrow street & the house opposite- not big enough to stand on, let alone sit on, but then, the "city view" was actually a large canvas/photo of old Portimao city,over the bed, not a view of Portimao. Sadly, the advertised roof terrace wasn't offered to us during our stay. That might have saved the day.||The house itself is a beautifully restored old Portugese house in a narrow cobbled street, which unfortunately was used as a rat-run by traffic, till the early hours.The house was very clean & well decorated, but without any creature comforts. We'd spent the previous few nights in a comfy hotel in Faro , with a marina view & delicious breakfast, so ND Prestige was a stark contrast. It would be fine for one night, but not for several. The owner met us on arrival, gave us a long run-down of their Covid protocols , then left. We let ourselves out on check-out. (The housekeeper was lovely, we crossed paths briefly a few times, as she let herself in).||In short, the accommodation websites (hotels.com in this instance) need to ensure their descriptions of properties meet...

We arrived several hours later without a booking, checked the availability again before spent an hour trying to find it and when we knocked the door, no one answered, the rooms had no lights, the place seemed to be absolutely silent. I called the phone and the man who answered told me that they are completely booked out. He did not apologize nor he seemed to care. Therefore we had to find another place urgently. Later I checked the availability of the rooms and they were still displayed as ready to be booked. A few hours later they were gone. Read moreAbove and beyond customer service experience! Me and my friend had a long flight from the USA to Portugal and we did not make it to Portimao until 8pm. Only when we got to the hotel we realized that check-in closed at 7pm. There was no one at the desk to help us and our reservation was already cancelled since we were late per the policy. We called the phone number they have at the door to seek for help.
