Manuel Teixeira Gomes House, the building where Manuel Teixeira Gomes, a remarkable politician and writer, was born. Municipal heritage since the mid-1990s (20th century) and Property of Municipal Interest since 2007, the Manuel Teixeira Gomes House was subject to restoration and requalification works, having been inaugurated on December 12, 2009, by the Mayor of Portimão, Dr. Manuel da Luz. Property of the Teixeira Gomes family since the 19th century, located in a noble area of the city, next to the Arade River and near the Bivar Palace and the Sárrea Garfias Palace, it has represented in the entrance gate the initials of its owner, José Libânio Gomes, a merchant of figs and dried fruits. Built in a simple style, it is a discreet, one-storey, rectangular-shaped house with a pitched roof, typical features of southern architecture. The entrance is made through an iron gate that gives access to a central patio, where a fountain once existed, around which all the bodies of the House develop, and where the twin arched windows stand out, on the right side of the building, the stained glass windows on top of the entrance door and the kitchen, where the stone sink and the traditional fireplace can still be seen. The Manuel Teixeira Gomes House, a meeting place of cultures and arts, is a space of inspiration and evocation to the life and work of the writer President. The House aims to be a meeting point and a place of identification of the community and for the community. A Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, em Portimao ė uma galeria de Arte por excelência e onde costumo realizar as minhas exposições de Fotografia. Ai há mulher Sao Passos também gosta bastante de expor as suas pinturas neste local. Todos os funcionários são magnificos e atenciosos. Só é pena fechar tão cedo , à tarde , pelas 16h30. Pelas exposições que tem permanentemente deveria fechar só as 18horas e ao fim de semana deveria estar aberta...
