Peccato di Gola — Restaurant in Portimão

Dinner here last night was fantastic. Head and shoulders above the other Italian imposters in the area. The high rating this restaurant receives here is spot on for the quality, and the price is extremely reasonable too... A small casual setting located on a narrow side street in the center of Portimão. It's run by husband and wife combo from Mexico and Italy, she runs the front and he is the Chef. The food shows the chefs Italian roots in its authentic flavors and correct ingredients. The Pizza is a star with high quality toppings and a perfect crust with soft texture and great flavor (My new favorite in the Algarve). The Carbonara was authentic in flavor with REAL Guanciale, egg, and Pecorino cheese, the twist of the pasta being more along the lines of a Rigatoni is brilliant. The special Gnocchi with ragu was well prepared and flavorful as was the homemade Tiramisu. I hesitate to give a great review as I want to be able to get in, but the effort that they have put into this restaurant needs to be rewarded. Please go and eat...

One of the best Italian meals I’ve ever had! This gorgeous little restaurant is run by the loveliest husband-and-wife team who make you feel so welcome from the moment you arrive. We ordered the bruschetta, carbonara, and Bologna pizza, plus sangria — and everything was absolutely exceptional. You can taste the passion and care in every bite, and the atmosphere is warm and authentic. The couple truly deserve all the praise for their hard work, amazing food, and wonderful hospitality.
