Bloom House — Hotel in Porto

I was excited for but unfortunately overall disappointed in my stay here. There were reviews mentioning warm friendly hospitality, but during check-in the reception seemed annoyed by our group of 6 (renting 3 different rooms). I didn't understand why, as we were not loud, waiting patiently, and were just checking in... They were only able to provide one key card for each room, which was an inconvenience when we wanted to split up for the night. There is also no nighttime reception, and when we had an emergency we had to call the number multiple times over 20 min to get a response, which just made it more stressful although we were grateful for the help.

I accidentally left some clothes in the room after check-out and I asked them how long it would be able to be sent to my next destination versus whether I should just send it back to the states. They told me 3-5 days so I trusted their expertise and had it sent, but unfortunately it still did not arrive now over 1 week later and I missed the package. It's my fault for leaving something in the room but I wish they were honest with the delivery time as I would have just chosen to get it sent to the states. ATTENTION: the structure declares in its general characteristics the presence of a lift but this is true ONLY FOR SOME APARTMENTS. And therefore the lift should be indicated as a feature of some rooms and not of the entire structure. The hotel could respond, as it did with me, that in the description of my apartment it says that it is accessible only by stairs but if I read that the hotel has an elevator this is misleading information.

Having said that, my apartment had many flaws: kitchen sink too small to be able to wash dishes, bathroom door handles broken (my children risked getting stuck inside), plastic rather than wooden parquet, needs very dirty maintenance and corners.

If you forget to put the "enter, please" sign outside the door every morning, the room will not be cleaned! (it is not enough, as in all hotels, to remove the "do not disturb" sign, you really have to put the "enter, please" sign). Sweet Porto was excellent! From the time that I booked they were in contact with us - they contacted us via email regarding the deposit. They took our travel information and kept in touch with us via WhatsApp. They had a taxi waiting for us at the train station who took us straight to the hotel. We were able to check in early and they held on to our bags until room was ready. We appreciated the open communication. They had someone on site that did a walk through of our room with us to make sure we understood what was available to us through the room and how everything worked. There was always someone available at reception (except for the designated late night times). Check in and Check out was smooth.
