Fine Arts Guesthouse — Hotel in Porto

Oooff, where to start? Good things first: it had a quite new and modern interior (kitchen, bathroom); the location is perfect (5 minutes to Igreja Ildefonso, 15 to Ponte Luiz/cathedral); vending machines for snacks and cheap but good coffee; price per person/night whas almost unbeatable in the region ; when having questions in the chat, the responses were very fast

But: • When entering the room, everytime there was a certain smell recognizable, probably mould; it was very strong especially in the cupboard • We had no real windows!? At least none that could be opened – there was a big glass door that led outside; but that area was accessible to everyone in the building (ground floor), and the door couldn’t be tipped up… so there was no possibility to let in the fresh air during the night or when we were away – and yes, there was AC, but that’s not the same • “beds” were more like a lounger – they were squeaking with every move, mattresses were too hard – I felt like sleeping in jail • Glass wall from the shower was leaking so there was always half of the bathroom flooded after showering – ventilations coulnd’t keep up with that so maybe no wonder if there was mould

Overall an okay stay if you’re there for 1 or 2 nights, but the longer we stayed, the more...

Disappointing. When we entered the room it smelled like humidity. I messaged the staff about it and they said to open a window or turn on the AC. Out of 3 windows only 1 can be opened and it's a door so I couldn't leave it opened when i wasn't there. The AC was turned on the whole time but it only masked the smell a bit, it didn't really solve the problem. I slept in a humid room 3 nights and it's not what I expect when paying for accommodation. In the morning water would be condensed on the windows. There is mold in above the shower and on the walls above the windows. The walls around the windows are in a bad condition and should be renovated. The kithenette is also in a bad condition considering that this is a place that people pay for. One part of a cupboard was missing, one cupboard was broken around the sink and the fridge is rusty. There was a leak under the sink and they sent someone to clean it every day instead of fixing it. The place definitely deserves a renovation before charging someone to...

The property may have been great when it was first opened, but it certainly isn't a quality property any more.

Our room stunk of mold, there was obvious long term water damage. Even with the AC running all the time it still smelled strongly of mold.

The fridge needed to be defrosted. Nothing was cold and it was leaking water everywhere.

There were 4 of all the players and cups, but only 1 wine glass.

On the third day they changed the code to the main entrance door and didn't let us know. We were standing outside at 10:30 pm and unable to get in. Luckily we were able to call the help number on Spain and they gave us a back up code.

The light above the main door was burnt out so we couldn't see anything.
