One of the most beautiful views of the city. Nice place to have a picnic, practice sports, ride a scooter, do circus or just smoke pot with friends. It has space for everything and everyone. From your conservative boring uncle to your crazy college friends. As a tourist, a place you must go. As a citizen, a place you must go too.

This wide alameda, very close to the Ponte do Infante, is a privileged and secret place to see the landscape of the Douro, Vila Nova de Gaia and a part of the city of Porto. From here you can also see four of the six bridges of the city of Porto: Ponte Luís I, Ponte do Infante, Ponte Maria Pia and Ponte de São João.

An excellent spot to hang out and enjoy the beauty of Porto city and Douro river. The area is full of activities and some local restaurants and delicacies. The view is mesmerising and good for a sunny afternoon activity spot. Nearby, enjoy coffee or local Porto wine. A must visit place.

From this elevated vantage point, you are treated to a sweeping view of the Douro River as it winds its way through the city. The iconic bridges, including the Dom Luís I Bridge, are prominently visible, their architectural grandeur adding to the scenic beauty of the area. The contrast between the traditional Ribeira district with its colorful, terraced houses and the modern elements of the city creates a picturesque tableau that is quintessentially Porto.

The miradouro is not just about the views; it's a place where the atmosphere is equally captivating. The tranquil ambiance is complemented by the gentle sounds of the river below and the distant hum of city life, providing a peaceful escape from the bustling streets of Porto. It's a popular spot for both locals and tourists, yet it never feels overcrowded, allowing for moments of quiet reflection and appreciation.

The viewpoint is also a wonderful starting point for a leisurely stroll along the Fontainhas Promenade. This walk offers more scenic views and leads to other interesting areas of the city, including traditional neighborhoods and hidden gems that showcase the authentic charm of Porto. Along the way, you’ll find several small cafés and eateries where you can enjoy a coffee or a bite to eat while soaking in the views.

For those interested in local culture, Miradouro das Fontainhas is often a venue for community events and festivals. Throughout the year, especially during summer, the area comes alive with music, dance, and food stalls, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere that reflects the spirit of Porto. These events offer a great opportunity to mingle with locals and experience the city's culture firsthand.

Accessibility to Miradouro das Fontainhas is straightforward, with several transportation options available. Whether you choose to walk, take a tram, or use other public transport, reaching this scenic viewpoint is convenient and part of the adventure of exploring Porto.

If you are on the river and decide to go in this place keep in mind that you definitely climbing the mountains on a steep climb. If and when you arrive on the top there is an anonymous square with a little fountain on the side and a statue representing effort and pain (probably in reference to the climb). Yes the view is nice but is...
