Oporto Near Apartments — Hotel in Porto

We were so disappointed with the service at this property and how we were treated We communicated our arrival time as was requested and when we arrived we were informed that no one was at the property for check in and that they had messaged us. We checked our office messages several times and there were no messages that were sent to us. Regardless, we decided to go get lunch with our bags lugging in the rain and arrived back at the property at cheek in time which was an hour later, which was their official check in time. Upon arrival, we again found the doors locked and nobody available to check us. So we contacted the check-in staff at birth numbers provided. However, nobody picked up our calls or responded to our messages which we could see were being read but no one was responding to us after about 20 additional minutes, we just got a text from the property saying that our reservation was canceled due to flooding. I completely believe that was inaccurate as we just think that they didn't want to check us in or did not have the ability to check us in. Regardless, this company has several properties in the area so if truly the apartment was flooded they could have offered us an alternate accommodation. However, the fact that they didn't do that shows me that they just didn't want to accommodate us. We spent the next hour standing on the street in the rain with cars going by drenching us with water. We stayed 4 nights and we’re hoping for a 5 star experience as per other people’s reviews. Firstly we booked the place based on photos in Bookings showing a balcony, we even chose the Superior Room thinking it was be the nicest. Our room did not have a balcony and when we queried this staff advised us the rooms with balconies cost extra and that we had “city views”. Well the only time we had a view of anything is if we hung out a window! The bathroom had broken floor tiles, broken toilet seat and a broken soap dispenser. The kitchen had 1 wine glass, 1 espresso cup, 2 coffee pods and 3 sheets of paper towel…we were there for 4 nights! (When we raised this with staff they advised we could purchase more pods - wow, thanks! How hospitable and kind of you!) WARNING: these people are scammers. What a nightmare! They destroyed our holiday by selling us an apartment that was in the middle of a building construction site. Noisy area, sleeping wasn’t possible of all of the street noise. No furniture, cold water so no shower possible. We bought all kinds of groceries to cook but we lost a lot of money on it because the kitchen was not ready to use. No towels, WiFi didn’t work and the terrace was large but empty. They let us pay more than 700 euros, the pictures look nice but you get a totally different apartment when you arrive. When we confronted them and asked for solutions, they stopped the communication with us. What a disrespectful way to deal with people.
